LCPDFR download problem.. Please HELP

Featured Replies

Just curious on what to do next since LCPDFR seems to download right on my computer but it gives my an error when I tried to play the game. This is what I'm getting-----

"Exception EFCreateError in module DSOUND.dll atooo116C5. Cannot create file "C:|Program Files(86x) Rockstar Games|Grand Theft Auto IV|asilog.txt". Assess is denied"

Any thoughts about how to fix this problem would be really really appreciated!!!!!! Thanks!

Again, no expert but know a little about computers.

Access denied. What are the settings on this folder: Grand Theft Auto IV? Sounds like you have it set up so that files can't be added. Folders have their own settings and permissions for allowing editing and adding of files.

My next question to you is: What are the permissions of  Program Files(86x)? It seems that the path's origin starts with this folder. I'll bet the permissions deny modifying or adding content into this folder from what has been provided.

Did you install Dsound.dll? Did it install correctly?

Edit: My last suggestion is to install LCPDFR as an Administrator.

@Povilas, thank you for supplying the answer before me.

When I install GTA 4 the game is stored in  file for program(x86). From there I'll click on the GTA 4 file. So I'm guessing I need to get into the folder setting (program(x86) and change some stuff to allow modifications like for LCPDFR?

Dsound.dll? Well the game works perfectly fine before I install LCPDFR but once I install LCPDFR the error Dsound.dll pops up? It's like the LCPDFR file is pasting/copying over a something it shouldn't? Or something not allowing Dsound/dll to be install?

I know some computer stuff but no where near the average computer person should know. LOL I'm just gonna keep trying to feed off of your/others knowledge and hope I can get somewhere. I really appreciate your help. Thank you

run the game as adminstrator

Um run the game "LCPDFR" as adminstrator or GTA 4 as administrator

I mean I'm the administrator on my computer if that means anything?

Thanks for the fast respond.

Run this file as administrator when you've installed the mod it should work properly: LaunchGTAIV

Yes , you need to install the mod running as adminstrator too.

No problem man.

Right that's what I'm asking though. When you install LCPDFR, you are asked which files to download:

1) dsound.dll

2) xliveless

...and a bunch of others.

Select "dsound.dll" and make sure it is selected. Forget about xliveless!

Yes; asilog.txt is a file. I understand that. Yes; check the permissions for "Program Files (x86)" and "Grand Theft Auto IV". Using logic, since the path uses Program Files x86 first, I suggest checking that. Then, check the other because that is hte last part of the path for the file, so I'm guessing that one of those folder's permissions is restricting modification (adding/deletion/editing) of files.

Hope you can figure out the problem. If you give it a while, you will get someone with more knowledge of the manner to help you but 'm doing all I can.

Oh OK I gotcha...I now see what you're saying. I ended up transferring over my GTA 4 game to another file I made up which allows modify. When I get to the end on LCPDFR downloading process Ill make sure to select sound.dll which I didn't select before.

thank you for your help. Sorry if I may sound brain dead when it comes to computer. I'm learning pretty fast about this process which I've never been into before. Again thanks for your help

No problem. The Youtube tutorials on installing LCPDFR help a lot. If you look under this forum (Support), you will see a topic by gangrenn. Click on it and go all the way down until you see a Youtube video called "HOW TO INSTALL LCPDFR". I watched the entire thing yesterday and it detailed the importance of the "dsound.dll" file and cautioned AGAINST using xliveless.

Glad I could help.

Hahaha! You know something? I'm a beginner too! I'm learning right along with you.

Well I now got the game going into another folder.... but it crashes right after the intro when you're getting ready to play. Man I wish I knew what to do? I been at this game with LCPDFR for like 6 hrs now. LOL. Just wondering if anyone here experienced the same crash that I am right now that could help me?

Again thanks everyone for helping me out. I am getting closer and closer at getting this right.

OK i finally got the game to work:) thank you guys for everything and your time.

Just a few  little questions-

1) How do I pull up the "trainer" menu? I guess that's what it's called?

2) I downloaded the Liberty city police sheriff slicktop police car made by tim98 but when I switch through to pick  my car at the police station it doesn't have it on there?

Thanks!
