so I downgraded gta 4 to 1070 and on this otherwise clean install besides a trainer the game just crashes when I try to load in a game, when I go to the diagnostics tool it gives me the modified scripthook.asi file even when I used the one in the manual installation.

After the update, Rockstar pretty much "blocked" GTA IV from being downgraded to the previous patch. As far as I know, the downgrader is outdated, unless you're downloading a cracked 1070 patch, there's really no legitimate way. Because the launcher itself has been changed completely.

If you managed to "downgrade" the game, crashes are expected. I'd suggest to play LCPDFR without other scripts, due to game limitation.

So... it's no longer possible to mod GTA IV? What do you mean 'play LCPDFR without other scripts'? As a layman, I have no clue what that even means, I just wanted to play the game.
