SUDDEN PERFORMANCE DROPS IN GTA 5 (& LSPDFR)

Featured Replies

System Information:-

Model: HP (15-di2000tu)

OS: Win 10 Home (x64 bit)

RAM: 16 GB RAM (2x8GB)

GPU (dedicated): Nvidia MX 110 (2GB)

GPU (shared): 8GB

Processor: Intel i5 (10th Gen)

The system is around 1 year old. I've been playing GTA 5, along with LSPDFR since the very beginning in this machine.

The game used to run pretty smooth (around 50+ FPS) even with medium to high settings. But since the last couple of months, the FPS drops have been severe, sometimes even dropping down to <10 FPS even with the lowest quality settings! Performance smoothens up a bit after lowering the resolution to around 1600x900, but still it's no better than around 20-25 FPS at max! Sometimes, even the audio starts to crack up!

Of course, trying to run LSPDFR now has become next to impossible, with the base game already ruining the experience.

I have been tearing my hairs off looking for solutions, but in vain. Also, no major change was done to the system in the meantime (except for a couple of diver updates by Nvidia).

Solutions tried (very commons ones, of course😞

1) Reinstallation of the game

2) Complete updates of all drivers.

3) Reverting back to the last Nvidia driver that worked (since that was one of the changes in between)

4) BIOS update (as recommended by manufacturer)

5) Tweaking around with Nvidia control panel (both on my own and under the supervision of Nvidia support executive) - but any change seems to make things worse!

Any help would be appreciated!

Are you running any other plugins other than LSPDFR in these tests?

Yes I do use the following:-

1) EUPMenu

2) SirenMastery

3) BackWeapon

Just as a side-note, the performance is horrible even without any of these (clean GTA V).

If that's the case id consider formatting your computer after saving what ever files you'd like to keep on an external drive and install GTAV as soon as it's operational again and see what the FPS values are like and if they go back to the readings you had a couple months ago. This seems drastic I know but if I were in your position that's what I would do, especially if you really want to play LSPDFR or even GTAV in general.

If the FPS doesn't change its likely that the latest updates to GTAV and LSPDFR have made your computers hardware insufficient enough to run the game. Which is unfortunate if that's the case.

Could be a hard/solid drive issue also just thinking about the problems you've explained. Like for example the audio cracking up. That's either Windows drivers or hard/solid drive issue if i had to guess.

Alright. Thanks for the answer.

I've had this thought somewhat, but was kinda reluctant to do it.

Anyways, now after your advice, I guess that's the only thing left to try. 😕

It can seem like a daunting task but I actually do it myself every second month or so. Some tips I can give you to make it easier: Backup what ever you want to save on an external and double check there's no virus's in it. Write down or screenshot the programs you use often so you can install them right away after the format or even better download the installation files for them all and place them with your backups.

Good luck!
