Vehicle Mods Not Working / Causing CTD

Featured Replies

So this used to work just fine, but now when I go to install any vehicle packs I just CTD after. I follow all the read-me files and such, and add the folders to my Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks , and then add it as instructed in the right format in dlclist. Yet every time without fail it causes me to crash after splash screen and loading. What could cause this?. Am I doing something wrong somehow?.

Example of read-me from car I just tried to install :

Install:
Go to: Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\x64\dlcpacks
Drag and drop the bravopolwash folder.
Go to:Grand Theft Auto V\mods\update\update.rpf\common\data
Open dlclist.xml
Add the following line between <Paths> </Paths>
<Item>dlcpacks:/bravopolwash/</Item>

Can you please send a screenshot of the changes you made to dlclist.xml so I can verify the coding addition.

I have tried 3-5 different ones. I can't help but feel I'm missing something but I'm installing them the same way I did tens of times prior with no issue. Only thing I recall doing different from this was for some of the vehicles they had engine sounds I put in my scripts folder along with a script for said addon vehicle engine sounds. However the ones I'm attempting to install now don't require those. This is rather odd, cant help but feel it's some minor issue I'm overlooking.  See below, each image is a step from the install process.

I can't see anything wrong with how you've installed that pack with following the instructions given. The easy way to see if that is the problem is to disable your mods folder by renaming it "_mods" in your directory. If the game successfully loads once you've changed that folder name then the issue is stemming from openiv changes. If so, I would just suggest uninstalling the vehicles one by one until you've found out which one is causing the crash.

If you could also include your crash report that would be great.

What's odd is I don't have a single vehicle mod. This is the first one and only one and I'm still getting the CTD after rage plugin loading screen. When I remove it , or any vehicle pack or individual add on everything works fine. But if I install any it just causes the same crash issue. It's very odd given I had tons of vehicle add ons previously now I can't get a single one to work.

Edit : I'll post RPH crash report log here shortly

Hmm that is strange indeed. Is your GTAV/LSPDFR/ScriptHookV/OpenIV up to date?

Yeah all updated mere days ago after all the recent changes. I can't help but think it's some minor thing, but even more odd is I don't start any plugins at launch so there's not some LSPDFR plugin or something that is generating the crash on startup. That's all I could think of other than a minor error in copy/paste or spacing. As mentioned before I'll post the ragepluginhook file shortly. I have all of my general plugins installed, and tens of call out packs all set and working. As well as all my immersion realism and graphical mods. The cherries on top are the vehicles, and it's baffling why they simply won't seem to install correctly this time around.

If you try disabling your mods folder by renaming it "_mods", this will narrow the problem down to just the openiv changes rather than a GTA/LSPDFR issue if the game runs. Have you considered using some sort of addon that you can use to easily install vehicles all in the same location, i.e. Albos modding dlc?

I'll try the mods folder change and see if that gives me any troubleshooting results. Is this the albo modding tool you were speaking about?.

Never used it before, but then again I've never had issues installing vehicles like this before. So maybe this tool will help and make them work. What does this do different from just putting the vehicle addons in the mods/dlc list though?.

Edit : It could be that I have the wrong gameconfig, trying some new troubleshooting ideas now.

Final Edit : it WAS the gameconfig. Upon re-installation I did my heap and other essentials but neglected to update my gameconfig files!. I had LSPDFR, Scripthook V, Scripthook V dot net, Rage Plugin Hook and every plugin and call out pack and script updated. But I merely forgot that one simple file. Appreciate the help regardless guys!.

Haha glad you've managed to fix it, crazy how just one file can crash a whole game though....

I use that tool as it just saves the need to be saving car textures/files in random folders and instead they all go into more or less the same folders and don't need updates to the likes of dlclist.xml. However, if you've now got it working then there's no need for that as it is quite an old file and not updated since 2018 but it does still work!

Enjoy!
