(Nvrmnd I figured it out) Changing ELS Audio Strings in VCF's crashes game

Featured Replies

There's a bunch of threads with ELS issues, but I couldn't find any that are the same problem as I have.  All the default VCF's that came with my vehicle mods used the exact same siren tone settings:

	<SOUNDS>
		<MainHorn InterruptsSiren="true" AudioString="SIRENS_AIRHORN" />
		<ManTone1 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_SIREN_1" />
		<ManTone2 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_SIREN_2" />
		<SrnTone1 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_SIREN_1" />
		<SrnTone2 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_SIREN_2" />
		<SrnTone3 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_POLICE_WARNING" />
		<SrnTone4 AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_AMBULANCE_WARNING" />
		<AuxSiren AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_SIREN_1" />
		<PanicMde AllowUse="true" AudioString="VEHICLES_HORNS_POLICE_WARNING" />
	</SOUNDS>

These settings are also the defaults for fire trucks and ambulances, not just police vehicles.  After downloading a siren audio pack and getting annoyed by police cars using the Ambulance Warning and fire trucks using police yelp and that kind of thing, I decided to find the audio string names and change my VCF files.  Well, now my game won't load up.  I have RageHook set to load LSPDFR automatically, and the game crashes just before it gets to the screen that says "Loading LSPDFR."  Interestingly, there is no error message, no crash report, nothing.  I've checked several times and I can't find any errors in my XML syntax.  I do see some conflicting posts about what the audio strings should be.  Here's the one's I changed from the default strings:

AMBULANCE

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_WAIL_01 = primary siren

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_QUICK_01 = secondary siren

FIRETRUK

VEHICLES_HORNS_FIRETRUCK_WARNING = air horn

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_FIRETRUCK_WAIL_01 = primary siren

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_FIRETRUCK_QUICK_01 = secondary siren

POLICEB

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_WAIL_03 = primary siren

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_QUICK_03 = secondary siren

FBI (and FBI2 and FBI addon vehicles)

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_WAIL_02 = primary siren

RESIDENT_VEHICLES_SIREN_QUICK_02 = secondary siren

I also changed the value of AllowUse for SrnTone4 to "false" for all police vehicles (SrnTone4 is set to Ambulance Warning), as well as changing the value to "false" for SrnTone3 on POLICEB (SrnTone3 is Police Warning and it just doesn't match the bike tones 1 & 2).  All my LSPD, SAHP, and Sheriff cars' VCF's still only have the default audio strings.  Also, my vehicles.awc file with all the modded siren tones is actually SMALLER in file size than the vanilla GTA V vehicles.awc, so having a large awc file can't be the issue.

Are these the correct audio strings?  Or is there something else I'm missing?

EDIT: so it turns out the crashing was caused by a different small change I forgot I made to my POLICE4 VCF.  I don't know if this thread can just be deleted or how it works but I guess I'll make a new thread to figure out the issue that was ACTUALLY happening.  Sorry!
