Performance Issue

Featured Replies

Hi there!

I am experiencing tiny lags every few seconds in crowded areas as  soon as I install LML. Usually my game runs fine and even with a whole bunch of mods it´s performing nicely at 144 FPS.

I already tried to install nothing but a fresh "vanilla" game plus LSPD:FR and LML in order to check for possible reasons for the lagging problem and again, as soon as LML runs, the game starts to stutter just a tiny bit - no further mods involved whatsoever. It runs perfectly smooth between these stutters ans LML does exactly what it should when I additionally activate coastal callouts but I just can´t get rid of the performance loss.

Is there anything I could possibly do about that? Thank you very much in advance and best wishes from Berlin, Germany.

Thanks for the detailed report. A performance loss is understandable given the nature of how things work behind the scenes, however it should be negligible as not a lot of code is executed. Could you please check if you get excess logging in vfs.log? Also, could you try to use a vanilla install of LSPDFR and LML without OpenIV? Due to the way LML installs things, OpenIV likes to log a lot, this might also hurt game performance (I know that it is required for many mods, but just want to check if it is causing it).

Please do not PM me unless really necessary (knowing you helps). If you think you need my attention in a topic, tag me.

Hey LMS, thanks for the reply!

I´m not exactly sure how much "excessive" is, so I hope you don´t mind if I upload OpenIVs and LMLs log-files. It sure looks like a lot of lines to me but that doesn´t say anything. ^^

I´ll give the vanilla GTA V + LSPDFR + LML without OpenIV a shot as soon as I´m able to, I´ll report back when I see the ingame-results! Will it be enough to just deactivate the ASI-Loader or should I reinstall the game and start over?

Thank you very much so far. Greetings!

PS: My OpenIV.log is actually too big to be uploaded. It consists of 70729 (no typo, over seventy thousand) lines. 🥴vfs.log

Hello again! 🙂

So I tried my luck with only using LSPDFR and LML but still, no change in terms of stuttering. I double checked if  OpenIV isn´t logging anything by deleting the log file, running the game and coming back to see if a new OpenIV.log would be created but that didn´t happen. As far as my understanding goes, that should mean that it´s not OpenIV causing the trouble, right?

Is there anything else I could try? Change the RPH-settings maybe or something like that? Thanks again!

UPDATE:

I did some more testing and disabled the LSPDFR-plugin. It´s still stuttering. Anyway, what I recognized is, that it feels like the stutters collerate with me entering "new areas" of the game world. In detail:

When I load the game, get into Michaels vehicle and drive south heading for the beach, that gives me stutters after just a hundred meters. I get to the beach, make a U-turn and drive all the way back to Michaels house and on the way back everything runs fine. Does LML change something in the way the game loads parts of the map? It´s almost as if the game had to "get to know" areas before being fine with calculating them.

I don´t know if that´s a useful piece of info but I thought I´d put it here.

Thanks for testing. If there is no log, then yes, that seems like it is not running. I am not sure why you are seeing the stuttering and why it only happens initially, though. While LML does intercept quite a few streaming calls, it should not be significant compared to how much time it takes to actually read the file. It's especially odd since most of LML takes part in the game's streaming code which should not affect the main thread for the most part. I'll see if I find time this week to prepare a build without any logging to see if that helps (logging is usually relatively expensive).

Hey, I am currently facing the issue and was wondering if you ever found a fix?

Hey Spyderz,

super sorry to say, but I didn’t. 😞 I ditched LML due to the problems and didn’t try again since that.

Ah ok, thanks for the response. I did however find to reduce the stutters slightly, by installing the game onto my SSD (a faster drive) and it has made the game more playable.  So I would recommend trying that if you have a faster Disk than the one the game is installed on 🙂

Well, that´s something at least, thanks for the advice! I do have an SSD installed, all I need now is motivation to go through the struggle of installing everything again. 😄

Through steam you can Move the install folder to your SSD. Library-Right Click on GTAV - Properties - Local Files - Move Install Folder. and you should be able to Select your SSD. 🙂
