  1. No offense, but you should provide more information/details as to why it crashed or what errors were given or how long into it or what system specs you have? Also, being rude to the one person who is posting in your support thread. Isn't likely to attract others to help you. Anyways, try posting more information about what you is happening and your system specs. Kind regards, Chevyman
  2. Maybe, but this would only last for a short period. I wouldn't try multi-player and/or any mods with it.
  3. Judging by the system specs he posted, I am pretty sure this is a notebook/laptop.
  4. So you are buying a new computer and not building? What is your budget? What other games do you plan on playing?
  5. You should really be posting this topic here (www.lcpdfr.com/topic/5754-need-help-buildingconfiguring-a-pc/) as a post. When it comes to gaming, hard drive and memory size are not nearly as important as the Processor, Video Card & Power Supply. What kind of budget do you have? Are you U.S. based? (I ask this question so those who reply to this thread know which vendors to post links to.) Are you buying a pre-built computer or are you building this? Windows XP is okay but is outdated and extended support from Microsoft runs out in 2014. Unless you get a 64-bit version of Windows XP Professional or Windows 7, your operating system will be limited to 3.xGB. Windows XP only supports DirectX 9 where Windows 7 Supports DirectX11 (What is DirectX11, short answer: software that makes games look good) Assuming you are U.S. based I would budget somewhere between (800 - 1400) for a new build or store bought computer. Price is going to vary depending on how high end you go and if do build it, if you re-use parts or order less (ex:4GB of ram now, more later). Think this over for a day or so and always do research!
  6. Okay, no worries. You don't have to apologize, I am not going to vote you down or anything. I was just curious as to what was going on with all of your new clan topics. So did all the other clans close or are they merging into this one?
  7. How many new clans are you planning on starting? Is this the same clan and you guys just keep changing the name/site every other week? What happens to all these clans? Do you just get bored and decide it's time to start a new one? These are just the three I could find that weren't deleted/locked. Seriously, I am very curious as to why DJ3 starts a new clan almost ever week?
  8. Crime Stats | We've discovered a major fault with the crime statistics system, we're working on fixing this and it should return shortly. They are clearly working on it and have stated as above (also, at the top of the site) it's a major issue/fault. Remember folks, people are volunteering here, no one is paid, real life issues come first. If you are having a problem, search the forums, if you don't see anything about it and then you might consider posting. IF YOU CAN NOT FIND ANY INFORMATION searching, then maybe make a post about it, but consider the fact that people are volunteering here. They already put a sign up stating there is an issue, they are working on it. I don't know how you all feel but I don't want to annoy the people who are working on something awesome for free. Especially when they know the about the issue.
  9. EFLC is on sale too for $9.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/12220/ GTAIV Complete Edition (includes Grand Theft Auto IV and Episodes from Liberty City.) is on sale for $14.99 http://store.steampowered.com/app/901583/ Grand Theft Auto Complete pack is on sale for $24.99 (GTAIII, GTAIV, EFLC, GTA:SA, & GTA:VC) http://store.steampowered.com/sub/4466 These sales end on the 23rd, again just a friendly reminder, to wait until the end of the sale before buying any game as that game may go on sale during one of the 24 hour or 8 hour sales. Now, to answer your questions: The next 8 hour sale starts at 4PM PDT/GMT -0700. Every eight hours on the steam home page they are letting the consumers/members vote on the next game to go on sale for that deal. The Steam Summer sale games start at every morning at 10AM PDT and last up until the last day. Generally on the last day, steam will put the best/highest selling daily deals of the entire sale period backup for the remainder of the sale. Also, keep your eyes open to the lower right side, as they have been having flash sales, these will most likely be not that popular titles and the times of these sales vary. Steam is a game distribution network created by Valve (makers of Counter-Strike, Half-Life, Portal, Left 4 Dead, & Team Fortress series). With you steam you sign up for an account, download the steam application and purchase games. Steam offers voice chat, in-game overlay, friends lists and other features. The cool thing about having all your games in steam is if you get a new computer, almost all of the games on steam are DRM manged through steam which means that you can reinstall/re-download very easily (compared to having to reactive a cd-key). You can read more from on the their wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_%28software%29 Disclaimer: I am just an fan of most of Steam's policies and sales (most of them).
  10. If you haven't purchased it yet, steam has it on sale for the next 10 days for $9.99. http://store.steampowered.com/app/12210/ Be advised it might even be cheaper during the 10 days, as steam is running 8 hour sales along with daily sales during their summer sale event that ends on the 23rd.
  11. Are you asking if anyone knows of a mod/way to show your wanted level status? Or Are you asking about the police cars showing up on the mini-map? The spoiler contains sarcasm and only sarcasm. NSFW, foul language used.
  12. Steam link : http://store.steampowered.com/app/12210/ Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Grand-Theft-Auto-IV-Complete/dp/B006BEZQRG/ While the price is good at Amazon, I suggest you read the reviews at Amazon before purchasing.
  13. Thanks for the reply and information. One more question, how can I add this to work for the say the nstockade? Thanks again! Edit: Played around with it a bit in game. Just a couple of fyi's. The spotlight goes with you from car to car. If you leave enter another compatible car the spot will follow. If your car disappears, the spot will stay on, floating where ever that car was when it disappeared, until you get enter another compatible car. That's it for now, very cool mod. Look forward to being able to add this to the nstockade and maybe other models? -Chevyman
  14. Cool! A few questions. How do you add the light to a different car model? Is it via ini/script or do you have to have a specific model? Have you used it in MP? If so, does it show up for other players? Any glitches you have seen with it? Nice work, thanks in advance for answering my questions. Regards, Chevyman
  15. Mouse worked a few times after alt+tab but GTAIV did eventually eat it and refused to play nicely windowed on my i5-2500k,16gb ram, Samsung 830series SSD and HIS (ATI) 6950 2GB VC.
  16. You might try using http://www.overwolf.com/. It will allow you to open a web browser, that I believe you can re-size and even keep on screen while playing. Worked fine for a few minutes/alt+tabs, then GTAIV stole my mouse icon and refused to give it back until I closed it.
  17. Dell does not make their own motherboards, they do contract out to other motherboard manufactures and/or have boards made specifically for them (most of time, this is a proprietary board for a case). Just like almost all of the major PC brands out there, no-one makes all the parts (most don't even make some of the parts) in their cases. Dell contracts out for either white label (no label/resellable) items or for the product to made to certain specifications . Once Dell acquires all the pieces from different vendors, they assemble them and offer them with support/warranty.
  18. Dude your getting a dell! I rather take that 18% discount and get or build something. For the price that system should have a better GPU & more information on the power supply & motherboard. If you are interested in other options or vendors and not wanting to build yourself. I would suggest you look into possibly buying from Costco (90 day return, 2 year warranty) picking their ZT Systems (assembled in the U.S., little bloatware, comes with Windows disc). Or powernotebooks, despite their name, they now carry desktops. Look up their reviews on resellerratings. And always, you can look at Newegg & Amazon (or other retailers). Hope this helps. Best of luck with your new system.
  19. I pray you are joking... if not, I'll be sure to stay clear of your area while LEO's that trained off of FR are still working.
  20. Audacity - open source sound recording and editing software http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ CamStudio - Audio & Video open source recording software http://camstudio.org/ If you are running Windows (depending on the version) you could use the included sound recorder and/or download the windows movie maker.
  21. Please provide video card brand and model.
  22. Enjoyed your work over the years. Thanks! Keep it open so the community can reply and share praise. Or maybe split it this thread?(Just my two cents)
  23. Hrm... Didn't take note of that. Google search shows a couple of videos of people playing GTAIV just fine. If don't need a portable computer (example; needing it to be portable at least once a week), I agree with OrangeJuice, you should invest in a desktop.
  24. Try this one, great reviews just under $500. Has a 1GB dedicated GPU. Newegg has carried this for a bit, but the price is the lowest right now. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834246328 Or if you can double that budget ($1000) and have access to a costco membership. This laptop is almost a steal with a 2 year warranty (1 year from the manufacturer and 1 year from Costco) plus a 90 day return policy, for any reason. Intel 2nd Generation Quad Core, 8GB Ram, 64GB SSD + 750GB Storage, and a 1GB NVIDIA GeForce GT555M GPU. www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11759092
