Only seen this topic now, but:

You have a good point! We definitely need badges going back much much longer considering how long we've been around for at this point! I'll look into making epic shiny badges for some greater milestones

It's hopeful to think about how LSPDFR and this site have inspired careers in law enforcement, and even otherwise, that people have had fun with us over the years!

    Here's to many more!

    Point 1: No terrorism.
Frankly it depends on the meaning. Mafia with a bomb downtown? Seems like terrorism to me. Regardless there isn't many assets or anything in game to make a realistic, let alone would the average PD even be handling that. Fair enough though.

    Point 2: Random locations.
In coding you have to assign each position and keep track of all of it. Even with the calls where there are 9 peds and 4 or so vehicles, that's a lot of positions and headings to fine tune. It would take actual weeks to get multiple locations and even then it would only be a few. The amount of work it takes for that would be more than just making another callout instead. As a dev you have to manually go out and collect locations, and headings. Even with my callouts not having 20+ peds it gets fucking massive to manage.

Like maybe it doesn't look like much to you but for every one of those items, I have to create it, make sure it doesn't despawn or do something stupid, have the correct locations, have the correct headings, set their weapons and clothing (a hell of a task on its own) and much more.
Tldr; It's a massive undertaking to have multiple spawn points for calls this big.

    Point 3: Interiors.
I tried. They are buggy and terrible with LSPDFR. End up with random crashes, bad AI, no backup, and often some softlocks in the game. Interiors are terrible in LSPDFR.

    Point 4: Not enough peds.
Spawn 20 backup units. (Hint: Game crashes)
The game can only handle so much, as well as lower end PC's will do a die when they are handling so much AI movement. GTAV is not optimized for huge groups of peds, vehicles, and things. Use custom skins, peds, cars? You now have even less room before the game either runs out of memory and has texture loss, or crashes.

    Point 5: Copy pasta callouts.
Nah you are just rude. I spent weeks of my time making this stuff and you claim it's just copy paste callouts.

You don't appreciate the time we spend making plugins and mods free of charge. You demand things like we are just lazy when in reality the game has limits we have to follow, and as a modder that works full time in another field I cannot find the time to make Tripple A quality missions.

You lot are entitled, rude, and unappreciative. Go play something else because clearly, we can't make you happy.

Right sorry for the rant but I was a bit upset with how rude you can be. Seriously, look at how you sound. "You provide free mods, cool, but they're shit do better"
That's how it sounds. Really rude.

Awesome, thank you! Been a little bit busy these last two weeks but should continue testing. I have not found any problems yet on the other features.

Hey mockdot, just a heads up that I looked into this and it shouldn't be as difficult as I initially thought. I'm working on this and it should be available soon.

Edit: LMS is also working on the install.xml changes you mentioned.

Thanks for your suggestions. We already covered the .xml option in another topic, I think the copy prompt is a good idea. Please also note that right now you can trigger the copy process again by using the copy button in the main mod list view. I think the other UI changes are relatively easy to do, but I have no timeline for when we update LML next.

Support for multiple install.xml files sounds great, but I leave the details of that to @Cyan.

    Hey Cyan and LMS,

I know we spoke of some of these already. Since I am actively working on contributing more install.xml's and using LML more often, I thought it might be a good idea to add the suggestions I've thought of, whether you consider them for now, later or not at all, I think these could help make LML more attractive to new users and remove the burden of feeling like it creates more conflict.

    Install.xml Process
(Implemented, working) - Allow to specify full path to .xml file, since most modders mix models/textures/VCFs.
(Implemented, working) - Upon re-enabling a disabled mod or resource group that has ELS, re-ask to re-copy the specified XML's (ideally be able to set them by group just to re-copy only those to avoid replacing other addons that have already set the .xml)

    LSPDFR Website
(Implemented, working) - Allow to create multiple installs on files to be able to create separate install.xml's for replace/addon vehicles or even different versions of certain addons, such as Radiance V (which right now only the oldest version can be installed with LML.)
    - Allow to create multiple .xml's inside one .zip file if modders does not separate addon/replace .zip files.

    UI
    - Some way to see that you can double click on the mods to open the configurability. (Maybe right click and a window showing Open Mod? I just found it today! Amazing!)
    - Save the columns sizes when you re-open LML
    - Ability to localize it to other languages (I can contribute Spanish translation)
    - Allow to maybe add/remove the author's column to the mods view window (Sometimes people put very similar names to mods and to avoid having to double click and check who made it)
(Implemented, working) - When hovering over a table, it'd be nice to be able to view the text as a pop-up maybe as sometimes this text gets lost if it is too long and the size of your screen does not reach.

Thanks to some community efforts and continued interest in keeping LCPDFR alive, we are happy to announce that LCPDFR, the mod which started it all, is now on GitHub. If you ever wanted to see how things worked back in the IV days (or just trash-talk the work of a few 14-year-old kids writing code), you have come to the right place.

Right now there's two limitations, one you've just identified as well as the fact that right now the filesize is limited to 512MB due to a limitation on how we're sending the files back. I'm working on overcoming this limit and managed to pinpoint that as causing errors earlier. I'm hoping to fix this tonight, as the fix should be relatively easy.

I will have another look at some of the website code to see how difficult allowing multiple install.xml's for 'subfiles' on the same download/file pages. I think this was engineered so this could be added later, but I will have to take a look at that and get back to you.

Glad I could be of help! It looks like it's working stable now since the last few minutes I've been testing.

Is there a possiblity to add several index.xml for resources that have several .zips? I saw at the beginning I could select which .zip I wanted to make the install.xml for, but once that is created it did not allow me to create it for the other. For example for addon and another for replace options.

    Hey mockdot,
Thanks for contributing LML install.xml files, your efforts are highly appreciated and have uncovered some bugs in our merging system. Basically, when you upload an install.xml, our system makes a new file behind the scenes and merges your install.xml into it. Whilst this looks easy, it's slightly complicated by the fact that the origin file can be any archive format (zip,rar,7z,etc) and our system has to handle that.

I'm currently performing some maintenance to fix some of the issues uncovered.

mockdot reacted to LMS in How to add ELS when adding custom vehicle
Yes, LML is very much designed for file modifications, not for other types of mods. The main reason being it is relatively easy for LML to control how/when file mods get loaded because it loads those itself, whereas other mods are loaded differently and not by LML.  The "GameFolder" system for first time placement I mostly added as a somewhat crude way to make ELS support better, but as you pointed out, it does not allow you to enable or disable those mods. This is because those files are loaded by ELS and not LML.

This is something I was wanting to add to 0.4.7 but didn't want to delay the release.
It's likely you'll be able to enable or disable callouts via the pause menu in the next version.

Is the suspect from previous chase spawned and if you hold down B it creates a new chase for you.

They are not events. They are controlled separately, happens only if there were suspects escaped from previous chase.
Also, StealCar event has a feature - if you see that suspect leaving with the stealed car you can just hold down B and it will initiate a pursuit.
