  1. From someone who says we should let people kill each other in the street (with the danger it represents for innocent people to be caught in the fire), and to let the bodies of criminals lay in the streets (with complete disregard for public hygiene and thus safety), basically more or less asking for some kind of The Purge to happen, I would say this last statement is very highly arguable.
  2. Yeah, I'm sure that when it comes to public hygiene it would surely not cause any trouble, having dead bodies rotting in the streets. But really though. In all seriousness. You've a serious problem if what you just said is actually what you think.
  3. Man, tomorrow we'll find you suicided with three bullets in the back for saying that kind of things.
  4. Summary of Trump rhetoric about North Korea: - We got bigger bombs than you - Kim, you're ugly and fat - Kim, you're not Kim from now on, you're Rocket Man - Rocket Man, did I tell you we got bigger bombs than you? I'd very much like a clear explanation as of why according to some people this kind of diplomatic relations and rhetoric made Kim decide it was good to make peace and actually reach COMPLETE DENUCLEARISATION. North Korea leaders have always been aware of the US arsenal. They're not idiots. Just because an orange man tells them they indeed have that arsenal doesn't make them change their mind, especially so suddenly, especially in a 180° change of direction. When I see someone saying we should credit Trump for that, I can't help but read them like this: "Trump barked at meanie cloudy sky 2 weeks ago: now it's sunny. Credits to Trump!". Makes no sense. Ulterior motives are at play behind the scenes on the NK/China side. Trump has nothing to do with it.
  5. How funny it is that since the suspect isn't an immigrant or of another religious belief, this event has completely disappeared from all the media outlets.
  6. I find it way too odd that after 2 years of permanent defiance, nuclear tests and missile launches he suddenly wants to make peace like that. There must be an agenda behind all this. Kim might be somewhat a psycho, but he's far from being stupid. Wait and see, but it's way too sudden and out of the blue to be completely honest in my opinion.
  7. You're picking BMW, which is a high-standard/luxury brand, not really a fair comparison IMO. Even more so with the X5 which is one of the biggest of their SUVs. The X3 for example is closer to the 40,000. With slightly lower dimensions, the Seat Ateca is at 24,000. The Peugeot 3008 is around 29,000. So on so forth, there's plenty of choice if you look for the regular brands rather than the fancy car makers like BMW, Mercedes, etc. Of course I'm not saying that it'd be worth it to buy Seat, Peugeot or any other brand, but I thought it wasn't a honest comparison to put Ford and BMW next to each other. Sad for the PIS though, I liked the design of the car.
  8. The suspect has been charged with first degree murder and attempted murder.
  9. It's difficult to conceive for us because here, when someone has their car searched, it's either after they've been actually arrested for a proper reason, or while having the owner of the vehicle just standing on the side with another police officer, not cuffed, not detained, just standing there and waiting. That's the thing that I think eludes us europeans, that kind of culture of violence you have over there with people ready to kill for the slightest offense. It also appears that California has the largest police force in the US, so it makes sense for them to have high numbers when it comes to that. I don't see your point.
  10. See, for a police force that often has to make use of their firearm, I find 6 month to be awfully low. Here, the training lasts 12 months, so basically the double.
  11. I said the mindset was healthier mind you. I'll always find it healthier for a cop to want to have a criminal judged according to the laws of their country, even if it means to endanger their own life, rather than for a cop to just prefer to gun down any possible threat they might face and ask questions later.
  12. My take on that is that they don't consider themselves judge, jury and executioner like many people in the US do when they consider they're in relative danger. Those officers consider themselves more like representatives of the law who must enforce it, and capture the non-law abiding citizens so they can have a fair trial and be punished accordingly, nothing more. I find this kind of mindset very honorable and much healthier.
  13. Dude had some really catchy songs. Enjoyed a fair bunch of his tracks on my way to and from work. 28 is a really young age to pass away.
  14. Again, this event has nothing to do with Islam. You can try to justify yourself all you want, it has nothing to do with it. Move on, stop being so obsessed, it's almost unsettling.
  15. Sounds good to me, depending on the case. De-escalation and non-lethal techniques should always be a priority before resorting to deadly force. I like California.
  16. A couple hours ago, the United States, along with France and the United Kingdom, have launched airstrikes over different locations near the Syrian capital, Damas, allegedly targeting facilities and storages for chemical weapons after the discovery of a chemical attack in a Syrian town. Russia, faithful ally of the Al Assad, current Syrian president, has already declared that this attack won't be without consequences. To be noted that these airstrikes have been performed without the congress/parliament authorization of any of the three involved countries, without UN approval or mandate, a day before investigators of the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons) arrived to Syria to investigate the situation, disregarding people's disapproval concerning this decision and without any concrete proof chemical agents were used (and now most likely destroyed by the airstrikes if they were actually real). http://www.bbc.com/news/live/world-middle-east-43710303
  17. Missed the point where the dude implicated in this thing had absolutely nothing to do with the "statistically harmful people", hence my comment that the bigotry turns people so blind they can't even think straight anymore.
  18. Except that the dude had nothing to do with what you're implying. Guess bigotry has a tendency to turn people blind.
  19. There's already car control, it's called a driver license. Quit the childish argument already, it's sad.
  20. Point taken. I guess that's where the cultural difference comes into play.
  21. That's my point, an officer should be able to arrive on time. To do so, he should be patrolling an area that allows him to reach you on time. Therefore, more officers are needed. To me, it's not normal to have one single officer covering several hundred miles square of land. Also, law enforcement were created to enforce the law, indeed. Who doesn't enforce the law? Criminals. Criminals who might as well be attacking you. Therefore, by enforcing the law, they protect citizens from people not abiding it. I don't see how protect and serve is a propaganda, especially since it's the motto of so many departments.
  22. And you really think it's a good thing to have so few people to cover so much ground and be in charge of making people respect the law for so many people? Not only the officers must be overworked, but it's no wonder they take so long to arrive. There's no real difference between US LE and EU LE. All it comes down to is having enough people to enforce the law, no matter the location. Bigger country means bigger budget. For example, if your police had the budget of your army, I'm pretty sure you'd have enough cops to cover all those large areas.
  23. Yes, if there isn't enough people to cover an area, that means the budget isn't enough to pay those people. And yes, the police as a duty to protect individuals. PROTECT & serve. It's not up to people to defend themselves, the whole law enforcement thing has been created so people wouldn't have to.
