Uncontrolled Crossing
The bumper sticker doesn't lie. All Railway Police vehicles are required to halt at uncontrolled crossings regardless to whether a train is coming or not. Railway Police take part in the RSI (Railway Safety Initiative) to reduce train versus vehicle and pedestrian collisions. It is state law that all operators of a motor vehicle come to a complete stop at any uncontrolled railway crossing. If the crossing is controlled, but is located in a rural area, it is highly encouraged that you come to a slow or even a stop and check both ways before proceeding, as rural crossings are prone to malfunction.
