NYSP troopers are the standard first responders in the state. They serve as both Sheriff Units, in places like Germantown or Ludendorff, but also as Highway Patrol traffic enforcers in Fargo Highway, north of the state. Modern North Yankton is much more developed than the backwater nowhereland that was the standing victim of the great 'Bobcat Heist'. As a border state, US Border Patrol also works in close cooperation with the NYSP to catch vehicle and gun smugglers on their way to and from Canada.
