New Truck for Tower 10

New Truck for Tower 10

Album created by ThatOneHick · Updated

With the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks arriving in just a few months, MTL Manufacturing (FDLC's main manufacture for their fire apparatuses) has reached out to the FDLC on creating a replacement for their current Tower 10. If you haven't heard the history of Tower 10, let us tell you the story.

FDLC's Tower 10 was the first apparatus that arrived on scene at the 9/11 attacks. Everyone that responded on that truck (which was a 4 man crew) were killed and the apparatus was heavily damaged due to the building's debris falling. A local HVY truck shop restored the truck voluntary to look 100% just like it originally did. All other MTL apparatuses that were there were replaced or parted out, but Tower 10 was chosen by the firefighters, citizens of LC,  and HVY to bring the truck back to life. After keeping the truck running and replacing parts for 18 years, some parts are either getting too expensive or the part is no longer made. The FDLC would like to keep that truck in service for as long as they can, but they know and admit that it's running on its last leg... or wheel in this instance. Us here at MTL figured the truck has been through a lot and it deserves a nice memorable retirement, so we got in touch with the chiefs of the FDLC and the mayor of LC and we suggested that we build a brand new 2020 MTL  tower ladder on MTL's behalf and put the current Tower 10 in the LCPD and FDLC museum that will open sometime in 2023.

For now, here are some pictures of Tower 10 that will soon be replaced!
