Trying to troubleshoot crashing - how can I set/increase log verbosity?

Featured Replies

I keep playing 0.4.4 lspdfr and keep getting random crashes. I can play for anywhere from 2 minutes to 1 hour before it crashes to the desktop.

The installed mods I have are:

  • EUP
  • Arrest Manager
  • Computer+
  • LSPDFR+
  • PeterUCallouts
  • PoliceSmartRadio
  • StopThePed
  • UltimateBackup
  • Traffic Policer
  • Assorted Callouts

It is very difficult to troubleshoot the exact cause of the crashes via any method other than trial and error. The log verbosity level is "trivial" and this just doesn't cut it. I have been able to narrow down that Computer+ and Arrest Manager may possibly be causing the crashes but those are mods I can't really go without that are required by a lot of other mods. I can't tell for sure because the logs aren't detailed enough anyway.

I have programming and modding experience and would like to just take the source code of the crash-causing mods, program out whatever code is causing crashes, recompile the anti-crash hacked dlls play my game. I can't do this with my verbosity level stuck on "trivial" since most of the log outputs in the source code of Smart Radio for example require a higher verbose level.  It's not in the RagePluginHook.ini file.

Sure, I could find the source of every mod that has source code, add a zillion more log outputs, recompile all of them and pinpoint the exact crashes that way, but I want to try using all of the built-in log outputs first.

So tl;dr: does anybody know how to change the Rage log verbosity level?

I don't think you can change the log verbosity - not from what I've seen anyways. Without patronising you at all, may I look at your RPH log where your game crashed? Perhaps another set of eyes can help identify the problem? 80% of the time when there's nothing inside of the RPH log but your game is crashing, it's a mods folder issue.

I'd also like to point out that Arrest Manager, LSPDFR+, Traffic Policer and Computer+ do most if not all of the same functionality as StopThePed and UltimateBackup. It may worth removing those and solely trying all of BejoIjo's plugins together without Albo's.

Thanks,

Zen

Well here are my log files from 3 different types of crashes. Each of them are different.

In "RagePluginHook.log", it crashed when I went to the police station before I was able to press "go on duty". This was after the mod itself crashed (after 5 minutes of gameplay) and I reloaded all plugins with the console.

In "RagePluginHook1.log" is a random crash. I was just driving around on duty after about 30 minutes of gameplay or something like that.

In "RagePluginHook2.log", it crashed when I pressed the "vehicle info" (or something along those lines) which computer+. It had been crashing nearly every other time I do that but since I removed arrest manager this is the first time I've seen that crash again in 2 days.

Interestingly, I copied my GTA V game folder to another computer earlier today (haven't tried it on the other computer yet) and since then, it seems to crash even more. The longest I've been able to play without it crashing all day is 30 minutes and it keeps crashing after 2-5 minutes. Yesterday was getting a consistent 2 hours between crashes but now it's not even playable. I didn't change a single damn thing mod game file wise since yesterday. Was there a new game update today or something?

How did I mess up my mod installation with a simple copy? I don't know. I've been  trying to play this for the last 2 hours so surely the constant crashing can't be a coincidence, can it? All I did was copy, paste and give it plenty of time and I didn't bother the copy at all whatsoever so WTF

Hi there,

I can tell you the second log was a crash due to ComputerPlus not being able to resume loading after a duty state change.

The other two don’t give anything specific, but I think it may be something to do with ambient traffic events? Are you able to play fine without any plugins added to LSPDFR?

Thanks,

Zen
