Windows Vista DEP Error - I have no idea what to do anymore.

Featured Replies

Hello ! I am need of some desperate help here. Recently , I purchased GTA IV , Installed LCPDFR and it was all going fine , however , when I tried to launch GTA IV , I got a DEP Error , that shut down the game on startup. I have tried adding GTA IV to the exceptions list and I have even disabled DEP completely , and it still bloody stops GTA from running !

I have no idea how to fix this, any help would be appreciated !

Try running as an admin, failing that.....

Open your Control Panel and System settings.

Click Advanced System Settings. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Under Performance, click Settings.

Click the Data Execution Prevention tab, and then click Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select.

To turn off DEP for an individual program (such as GTAIV)

Select the check box next to the program that you want to turn off DEP for, and then click OK.

If the program is not in the list, click Add. Browse to the Program Files folder, find the executable file for the program and then click Open.

I admit, this was copied from Windows Help and Support and modified a little.
