LSPDFR Modification in the Media

Featured Replies

Lets have a chat shall we.

Recently I have come across numerous articles in old fashioned media such as news channels and breakfast shows that bring up the Grand Theft Auto franchise and the recent 'Hacking' abilities. I understand that most of these are a year or two old however it is still an issue that I personally feel that this community needs to address.

An example of one of these news shows that shows blatant disinformation and provides no investigative detail into our community is one held by Australian 7 News early 2017: https://www.moddb.com/games/grand-theft-auto-iv/news/australian-police-and-media-outraged-over-grand-theft-auto-mod

After watching this interview fully you can realise, hey all these people are most likely not infatuated with gaming and are constantly referring to parents having to be strict with their 'children'. As quoted from the article linked above, "Pedestrian.tv has a response from one of the modders who contributed to the Australian LSPDFR content, who says that the mod has been misrepresented by the news network’s coverage". I'm quite sure many of you reading this now are thinking to yourself that this is nothing and just a couple of older people having a rant about video games but no this is a serious topic that needs to be addressed. Also from further quoting from Pedestrian.tv,

"The community since I've been a part of it has been around since 2010 at its earliest and was started by like-minded individuals who were enthusiastic towards emergency services. Some of them are actually current serving law enforcement personnel working Australian police services, as well as other career paid and volunteer staff from other emergency service branches as well as just enthusiasts."

This is a perfect way of describing this community. Myself personally I am a volunteer paramedic and community patrol officer. We all are huge enthusiast of emergency services and emergency services role play and we are the percentage of players from the Grand Theft Auto Franchise that view authority and the law with higher respect. We are always supportive of emergency services and support our countries lawmen and women in fighting crime, serving the people and protecting us whether they are a firefighter, judge or a dispatch officer. We support you and thank you for your service.

Iggy Fresh,  a Youtube content creator created a reaction video to this news segment and debunks quite literally every point 7 News brings up regarding the LSPDFR modification. He notes that LSPDFR is not a hack but it is a modification, he details the difference between the two. Thank you for your analysis and breaking down 7 News' segment Iggy Fresh, was a methodical and detailed video. Here is the link to said video for yourself to view: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12anzBXV3FU

From the interview that is linked above, you notice how the news program specifically details that the local police depicted is based in Australia, New South Wales and the local police representative was said to have seen it as a great disrespect to their officers and looking to take legal action to have it taken down. I haven't looked too deep into these claims or whether the modification was taken down but these are the claims detailed to us in 7 News' Program. I am currently trying to reach out via social media platforms and support forums to try and contact the New South Wales police to ask for a short interview surrounding their opinions and expressions towards this community and our depictions of their officers and will go further to contact my country's law enforcement (New Zealand Police) and also some other global police departments.

I will detail these interviews as they become available to you and provide updates with regards to this matter. This community is one full of respect. With it's own chain of command and respect for authority. On behalf of this community we apologise to all the officers and other emergency services that are offended by our depictions of you and I'm more than certain that if you were to contact us or a community representative to express any concerns you have then we welcome you.

To show our commitment and respect to our emergency services I'm going to detail some perfect examples of this community to these news outlets:

Albo1125

Now Albo is a dominant character in the LSPDFR community, he is highly praised and more known for his modifications that bring us ease of access to our gameplay experience. He is a dedicated person to the community and also his studies. He shows true respect for the law and if you are caught breaking the law by him there's no talking your way out. With this man, the law is the law. Also for diversity, British Police Role Play communities!

FirstThrityMinutes

You are a good mix between enjoying a video game while having the ability to take it seriously. This member of the community brings a more laid back approach to the role play community and although he doesn't do hard core role play he sure does still respect the law and bring about justice in his play sessions.

DOJ RP

This one is a little different. These is a particular sub-community of this community. The DOJRP stands for the Department of Justice Role Play, dominant characters in this community are people like Polecat324 and BayAreaBuggs. Two good friends who enjoy police Role Play amongst other games. Although the pair may not be serious all the time they are a part of a serious community with strict guidelines, vigorous training and a very particular selection process. *Cough cough* still waiting on my application to be reviewed by an admin guys

This is just a short example of what this community has to offer. I'm sorry for creating a long thread but I feel that the earlier we deal with this increasingly pressing issue then we will have less of a misunderstanding in the eyes of the law and mainstream media in the future.

Please detail your opinions and criticism below and I will be detailing further events in regards to my interviews with enforcement agency representatives. Leave comments on what questions you'd like me to ask or what certain misconceptions you'd like me to address.

If something happened in the media again, I could understand making this thread, but making it two years later?  No offense at all, but it seems a little to late to be diving into this discussion, especially when most members who were here at the time did give their input.

I did want to address some stuff.

What does fivem have to do with LSPDFR?  Never once has the media mentioned fivem or even cared about it.  It's only LSPDFR.  Also, BayAreaBuggs is no longer in doj, so I'm not sure why he's mentioned.

Was this a copy and paste thread? I mean, are you just pasting this everywhere? Again, I am genuinely not trying to be rude, but why tell us this? We aren't doj, we can't help you.

I need donations to help fund my food addiction. DM for details 😂

Considering Rockstar and Take Two have agreed that single-player modifications are ok, and that this article is almost three years old now, I really don't see this as a problem.

As unfortunate as it is, sometimes, media can get things wrong, as they did here.

No no, I heard it on the local radio in my country and it was bugging me. This was not copied. I'm sorry if you don't find it relevant and that is completely fine

Fair point. It's just me trying to make some clear clarifications within the community and the media
