My GTA 4 Crashes When Loading a Mission

Featured Replies

Hey,

I have been playing GTA 4 for the past couple days with car mods, and LCPDFR, and it has been running just fine. I installed 2 new cars today by Bxbugs123. after I installed them, i tried to load up GTA 4 and then it says "Loading - Then the Mission" and then it crashes. It has never done that before, and it seems now that I installed 2 new cars, it doesnt work. I validated game cache, and that first time it was missing 4 files, then it downloaded, and then i tried it again, and it now has all the game files. I tried to play it again, and it still does not work.

Anyone know what happened?

Thanks!

Yes, your save game is corrupted. You will need to delete it and load a new one.

If using dsound.dll, your savegames are in C:UsersUSERNAMEAppDataLocalRockstar GamesGTA IV

If using xlive.dll, your savegames are in: C:USERNAMEDocumentsRockstar GamesGTA IV

Im running GTA 4 on steam and do not have that rockstar games folder for some reason. Do you know where the dsound.dll would be in that case?

Running on Steam or disc version should make no difference. You will only have one of those folders, not both. Usually, most people use dsound.dll when they install lcpdfr so your savegames should be in appdata, there shouldn't be any other place that I know of. The asi loader you choose when you ran the installer determines where your savegames will be placed. Xlive.dll moves them to documents.

If running vista / 7, type %appdata% into the search bar in the start menu and press enter, then go back one level (from Roaming to AppData) and the Rockstar Games folder should be in the Local folder.

Okay, i found it: http://gyazo.com/966888c914914ea4c12706dd7c4f782e

now what do I do?

If you only have 1 savegame, just delete the savegame folder. If you have more than one, remove them all and then add them back one by one so you can find the corrupted one. Then you can delete the corrupted one.

If you don't want to hassle with that, just delete the whole Savegames folder.

Okay, this is the only savegame i have: http://gyazo.com/bda...399898f270affca

so should i just delete that? and then re start the whole game again and start from the first mission?

P.S. this is what it looks like when i open my savegame folder: http://gyazo.com/c2cdd5ca0d01b5aa32aae708e50124c4

That would be best. Make sure to complete the first mission or two and save before running LCPDFR. It will glitch if you haven't completed the first mission.

okay. So just delete the whole entire savegame folder and restart?
