Starting Anew: Optimal Gameplay/Mod Help

Hi guys,

I'm (relatively) new to the LSPDFR scene and looking for suggestions from seasoned veterans of LSPDFR and fellow fledgelings alike. I've got a lot to learn about many aspects of modded GTA V game (I'm a 5+ year user of XBOX and a PC phobe until now) but having watched many of your great videos, read highly informative discussions and perused lots of the community's excellent mods I'm ready to delve in fully.
I have actually had a little experience with some of the LSPDFR mods out there (please welcome Albo's newest fan) over the last two weeks but due to a computer issue I'm starting fresh and hoping to get some valuable suggestions from experienced LSPDFR players. Please bear in mind there may be some overlap with existing topics and I've done my best to browse through solutions/eliminate duplicate or stupid questions from this post but if it remains in chances are I haven't found a solution that works, I'd like a bit more newbie-friendly guidance or I can't find a reported issue on the matter at all.
PLEASE NOTE: I do not expect everyone to read all of this post or answer every question. Literally ANYTHING anyone can input means a lot but by no means do I expect nor want to take up people's valuable time with what may appear inane queries. TYIA.

Previous mods I have so far experimented with (and some of the issues I had/would love any advice on 'optimising'):

  • LSPDFR (obviously, +Rage Plugin to run this show)
  • LSPDFR+
  • Arrest manager
  • Assorted callouts
  • Police smart radio (C never worked to bring up the radio. Edited the files to L CTRL + C which worked a few times and then suddenly stopped?)
  • SpeedRadarLite (Didn't work at all for me...)
  • Traffic policer (About 60-70% of my routine traffic stops seemed to end up being pursuits after I stopped the vehicle which was rather frustrating 😞 )
  • +/- British Policing Script
  • Automatic roadblocks (Very useful minus the fact that I cannot seem to increase/decrease elevation myself... Numpad no likey, with or without NumLock on/off)

Basically this post is an eager request for mods/add ons that offer:

  • Realistic gameplay balanced with the fewest number of problematic game issues (BONUS points if promotes a British feel to policing! The less I have to shoot and the fewer cars I total, the better.)
  • Preferably fairly easy to install (I can follow instructions and always read the documentation if that helps)
  • Not a game killer for computer (I have pretty decent gaming specs and run GTA V real nice but it's not 'top end' gaming quality)
  • Suggestions for a mod that will help my officer stamina - being outrun by the morbidly obese is no longer very funny. These cops badly need to hit the gym.
  • Anything that shows speed/location would be a really nice touch.

Anything that solves these issues (doesn't necessarily need to be a mod, suggestions welcome too):

  • Suspects doing their own sweet thing and getting out of the car after being arrested and about to be taken to jail. #chasingidiotsaroundlossantos
  • Majority of callouts or traffic stops ending up in long, tedious chases that only end up when I call in backup, get through multiple bypassed roadblocks and some other officer ends up arresting MY suspect.
  • LSPDFR mods cancelling out my auto-aim? (Yes... I play with auto aim. It's easier, I like it, IDGAF about the challenge xD) With all these buttons and key commands there's enough to be thinking about without having to target and faff around with drunken camera angles.
  • Improved reliability for officer/ped interaction.
  • Police radio not cooperating (as described above)
  • Unable to bring up search module (E)(for running ID/Plates) during a stop. (Could be solved with police radio if anyone can help me get that working again)
  • Drivers (not the suspect) acting like absolute plebs while you're dealing with a suspect at the roadside with enough margin - although sometimes unavoidably obstructing the road - just mowing you down. First couple times I died, mildly frustrating and somewhat amusing. Quickly lost its charm around the fifth or sixth time of being totally flattened by drivers ignoring my signs/sirens and plowing through parked cars and the like. If I had funeral costs for every death they'd be racking up pretty nicely by now.
  • I experienced a few 'random' crashes that could be my computer or game disliking the mods (although troubleshooter presented no obvious mod conflicts (?)) Without posting my error logs (which I no longer have access to) I don't expect anyone to know how to help with this, unless there's some universally accepted 'do/do nots' for LSPDFR that minimise crashing incidents.

Long post short, what mods would you all recommend to a relative newcomer that will give a minimally problematic gameplay experience with all the law enforcement fun we're ultimately here for? Or tips for a new LSPDFR member?

THANKS

Delphi

PS. Is there a specific product version I should be playing on, or just whatever the latest is/whatever my steam game download comes up with?
PPS. I really hope this is in the right topic... I ummed and erred over where to put it for some time.

Update (as LSPDFR doesn't seem to want me to edit my original post)

  • I did a complete reinstall of both the game and LSPDFR after the first load up with mods involved resulted in the same issues (random glitches, crashing, command keys spacking out) and after the LSPDFR/Rage Plugin reinstallation I have (Knock on wood!) had a far more stable gameplay experience. It could also be partially attributed to lowering game settings from very high to high in order to be a little kinder to my laptop. I've just had over an hour of steady policing without being booted from the game or encountering massive issues.
  • Also... hooray for police smart radio finally deciding to behave itself! Turns out it doesn't like any direction on the D Pad for XBOX controller but if you press in between D Pad Right and D Pad Down... that's the sweet spot for getting it to pop up in my game at least. From there on out it has been plain sailing.
  • With arrest manager being a little less stroppy I've gotten around problem arrests where E wont work as Albo's mod has mercifully given us an alternative. With this it also seems that 99% of arrested peds are also staying in the car when I put them there so I get the full experience from callout, stop, question, arrest and book into jail. YAY.
  • I don't know which mod to attribute it to but with everything running smoother the drivers on the road also seem to have taken a chill pill (that I wont need to get out my drug test kit for) and are mowing me down less frequently. As a general rule they have kept to honking their horns and running their mouths at blocked roads but not actually going full-out road rage to flatten me like a pancake. Spending some time familiarising myself with the road management UI has helped a bit.
  • Traffic stops have been roughly 70/30 split in nice straightforward stops (70%) and pursuits (30%) since restarting. Which means I still end up chasing cars around LS for a while but at a frequency I can tolerate better. I didn't install assorted callouts this time and I'm half wondering if that was - uneducated guess - altering the probability of a stop become a pursuit??
  • I am still finding auto aim does not work 'properly'. It is now latching on to people but never the intended targets even when they're in the general line of fire/sight which is rather disappointing as I just cannot manage to multitask in on foot pursuits to target them and keep up so always lose those arrests to supporting officers. I could of course just go all out and inaccurately shoot them down or run them over but for something like a DUI (and as a British person who is pro British policing through and through) I prefer my suspects alive and my car bumper undented... Just my preference.
  • Same issues existing when playing with anyone but the white male cop: some menus (such as jail handover options) just seem to present as a blank screen. If you know the options, ie 1 to book in a suspect yourself, it still responds, otherwise it happily twirls around a loading icon or remains black indefinitely. Even with the white male cop the menu interface flickers constantly but at least you can read it to choose an option if you haven't done so before to know what to select when nothing comes up.
  • I am not finding any pursuit tactics settings that have enabled me to safely stop a fleeing suspect like I have seen others do in feature videos etc. It seems to be an option of either backup following me around at a distance until I get a roadblock to stop the suspect (or I ram them - 100% unintentionally to a complete stop) so basically being utterly useless until the driver is out of the vehicle and they chase/arrest at gunpoint. At other times the backup just drives around like loons, ramming me, the suspect, any poor pedestrian, but actually resulting in nothing at all. Is it just wishful thinking that I would like for them to help me do something (vaguely) akin to a TPAC, even an inelegant one, to force a stop without so much drama in roadblocks and the like? Just box that sucker in and make an arrest that doesn't result in the grand tour of Los Santos and dozens off officers pulled off normal duties...

I would still welcome any advice on great mods to add to the excitement of LSPDFR gameplay. Otherwise my next, slightly intimidating IMO, hurdle is installing custom/British specific vehicles and uniforms to truly make the experience more realistic and engaging as I attempt to interact professionally with peds who are not so pleasant or polite.
