I might be the biggest noob around but I just don't get it.

 

I downloaded a vehicle set what I quite like except for the vehicle in the sheriff slot ..... so I figured I go and get me another one of the same kind and found one I like.

 

This one was supposed to go into the police3 slot but there is already one vehicle in there I would not like to loose.

 

I thought easy enough .... renamed the files like that

 

police3.yft - sheriff.yft

 

police3.ytd - sheriff.ytd

 

police3_hi.yft - sheriff_hi.yft

 

(VCF) police3.xml - sheriff.xml

 

and moved them with OpenIV to their destination.

 

Looks good so far I thought but after starting the game the vihicle in taht particular slot was missing - nothing there at all.

 

Inside the download was also a vehicles.meta and I figured to replace the police lines with sheriff but that was only to a certain degree the right way, because after this the desired vehile showed up but the sheriff2 slot was suddenly empty and the vehicle did have some real bad driving issues.

 

I suppose it is something about the meta but I have no idea how to handle this.

When you spawn the vehicle, does it give any error, such as vehicle isn't valid?  Or does it act like it's loading the vehicle, but never does.

when I try to spawn it with the F4 menu then nothing is happening when hitting the "sheriff" button and when I go downtown to the police garage it appears to be loading but then the character just stays there without the vehicle - I did once select the not visible vehicle just to be dropped with a parachute underneath the map.

 

Like I said I suppose I do have to make use of the meta file but I have not the slightest Idea what lines I need to change and what part of the meta has to be copied into the original meta.
