This past Saturday(the 10th) 2 Officers responded to a hang up 911 call, Possibly a domestic call as they had been called there in the past. They were fired upon almost upon arrival, One officer succumbed to his wounds on scene while the other was taken to the hospital but died shortly after arrival.

One of the officers was a K-9 Officer, K-9 Officer Sam was not injured and will be retired to the family of the slain officer who leaves behind 3 kids

The suspect survived and was on life support but no solid news has been made on if he was taken off of it and when he could be seen in court. Smith had a lengthy criminal record

 

Another suspect has been accused of buying the gun for the shooter has been arrested and expected to be seen in court.

Thank you for posting this @Straypuft !  I am a former Westerville Firefighter, and was born and raise in Westerville before moving to Alaska 2 years ago.  Officer Morelli was my School Resource Officer and a Good Friend and Mentor while in Middle School.  He and Officer Joering will be greatly missed in the community.

People wonder why cops are always on edge and might have their hand on their holster.  People also wonder why they treat almost everyone as if they are armed and going to attack them  This is why.

I somewhat agree with you, but in some cases, cops are not innocent and they have killed innocent people/kids in cold blood and defining it as self defense but after providing proofs (like dashcam/ bodycam) they always got away without being punished too! That alone changed people views about cops.

 

As for this suspect, I hope he either die or get maximum punishment and never get released. Our justice system is kinda Fd up tbh, when he was arrested before he should've been kept in prison for life!

Oh no, I'm not defending all of them.  In fact, in another thread in this section (and another) I've begun to change my stance on the police from good to negative, so I am in no way trying to condone the bad ones.

There may have been around 500 vehicles in the procession today according to a city street worker I staged near as he was directing traffic, He was nice enough to let me know when the procession finally started moving as it started about an hour after the funeral service ended. The procession was around 65 minutes long from where I was standing which was around the halfway point.

 

I am an avid emergency vehicle photographer, It excites me to get the chance to see emergency vehicles I have never seen before or may never get to see since my mobility is limited by not having a personal mode of transportation. That being said, I was excited to be able to get a chance to photograph vehicles at a place I never get to visit. but some moments of sadness did get to me when the fallen officers service vehicles and the vehicle they were in came by :'(
