Game keeps crashing, any ideas before I re-install?

Featured Replies

I recently started encountering a problem where GTA crashes shortly after startup. Not starting LCPDFR seems to delay the crash an extra 1-2 minutes, but happens regardless if LCPDFR has been started or not. I have uninstalled any car modifications I have, but left ELS and Indicator script on (not sure if that changes anything). I've had steam check the validity of the game files and replace those not working but the crash will not cease happening. It crashes usually 5-8 minutes after start up, everything runs fine for that amount of time. I haven't noticed anything specific causing it to crash, but it stared after I removed a large amount of vehicle modifications from the game. Hoping you guys would have some answers maybe or any tips, I want to use my resources before re-installing because I have DSL and lets face it, downloading GTA takes an eternity... Ps. I am NOT using EFLC!

Here is the cute error report windows gives me:

Are you running the game as administrator? What if you launch it through the launchgtaiv.exe in compatibility mode?

You could try posting a diagnostic log to see if that can tell us anything different but If you have already used steam to repair part of your game it's likely that LCPDFR won't work until the mod is reinstalled.

You may have to reinstall the entire game from scratch if using steam to verify and repair your game content doesn't work. Also try googling your error message and seeing if anyone else has a solution. I don't think you're the first to have it but I don't believe it is related to the LCPDFR mod.

Also try deleting the dsound asi loader from your gtaiv directory.

And post your pc specs please.

I'm running as an admin, i'll try starting it that way and deleting that file though. I appreciate the quick reply!

Alright Specs are

Intel i7-2760QM 2.40 GHz

4 GB of ram

Windows 7 (64-bit)

AMD Radeon HD 6870M

Did I forget anything?

We seem to have an increase in these kind of reports in pretty much the last 48 hours. I don't know if it's just because people are deciding to post here for general support or because games/rockstar social club/gfwl updated somehow and are causing it.

See how you go with what I've suggested there and try googling your message to see if anyone online has found any other things for you to try.

Deleted the file, ran the game without any mods and got a new error. May have forgotten one modded car on so I will remove that and try again.

Here is the new report:

Seems like it was my system and not the game this time... could be wrong though.

Thanks for the help! Will try this, sorry if this wasn't the right place to post this. Really appreciate the help from this community though
