Help with vehicle skins

Featured Replies

I am kind of a noob at installing skins. However I installed the skins and followed exactly what the readme said. I installed BradM's  BCSO pack.

To install the texture, you need to rename the new image to whatever the current skin is named.

For example, lets say a skin is named cvpi_sign_1.  Any texture you want to use and replace has to be named the same thing.

Do you mean to rename the cvpi skins to Sheriff?

No, look here.

My POLICE 4 is a CVPI.  Its vehicle textures are named cvpi_sign.  If you replace one of the textures with a new texture, that new texture has to be renamed cvpi_sign_1, or cvpi_sign_2 depending on what you want to replace.

Pardon my ignorance, but  i have already replaced these files, and is still getting the blob when it spawns. I would like to know if I installed something incorrectly or it is a bug in the vehicle pack.

To confirm, before you change the textures, does the vehicle spawn without issues?  Does the texture look fine before?

When I originally posted this I already had the files installed to what i had wanted, but the vehicle was not loading and instead was showing a broken vehicle blob (shown above).

Do me a favor, please. Go back to the download page for this vehicle and grab the .ytd.  Replace your current sheriff.ytd for this one.  Next, go in game and verify if the vehicle spawns right.

No, it still spawns as the broken blob

Then either

A) You forgot to include a +hi.ytd, or incorrectly named one of the files.

B) There is another SHERIFF .ytd somewhere interfering.  Go through your patchdays and see if there's another modded sheriff someone.

I did find more modded sheriff files and deleted them. When i launched and spawned i get the default sheriff, without the light bar. Not what I want to launch. However, the cvpi skins in the ytd file show what I want.

You didn't install the model properly. Dump all the car files into patchday9ng's vehicles.rpf and try it out.

I still have the same issues in the patcday9 folders as the patchday15 folders.

As long as the modded files are in the very latest patchday, it'll work flawlessly.  Make sure you're using a mods folder.
