cant install cars

I've followed instructions even copied a youtube video. Still, the police cars stay the same as default game.

 

any ideas? am lost

Just to verify, you dropped the files in the very latest patchday that has a vehicles.rpf, right? When you double click the .yft of the car in OpenIV, do you see the modded car?

says to drop it into patchday3ng... oh am I supposed to put them in patchday 15 no matter what?

Yes. :)  In the past, patchday3 or other previous patchdays worked.  At some point, it was changed to where only the latest patchday works.

ah ok ill try this also can I rename the cars like police 1 2 3 4 5 6 or can I only have the slots like sheriff1 and 2, not 3 and 4... thanks for the reply buddy

You can rename to police, police2, police3, police4, fbi, fbi2, sheriff, and sheriff2.  For anything above police 4 such as police5, you need to install standalone cars.
