Support: Rage Fails To Launch Inside GTA Folder

Hi All,

Just installed a fresh copy of GTA V Steam version 1103.2 and downloaded the latest RPH (55) to get going on LSPDFR this weekend. However, whenever I try and launch RPH, nothing happens. If I run it as Admin, a window pops up about elevated privileges, and then the window closes without anything else happening.  What I've noticed is that if I run RPH in the extracted folder, it runs normally. Once I introduce the GTAV.exe file, whether it's by dragging the exe to the extracted folder, or by installing RPH to the GTA folder normally, it fails to launch. I've done the Windows Creator troubleshooting with no results. I have all latest runtime environments.

Here is a screenshot of my GTAV folder

Here is a screenshot of my GTAV version details

Here is a screenshot of my RPH version

What's interesting enough, is that if I run an older version of RPH, it opens up and lets me do what I need to do. But for some reason, the current version will not. Any help would be appreciated!

- Greg

Go to the RagePluginHook Settings ---> Game settings ---> Command line switches check "Force DirextX11". Try again.

I would love to try that, however, the program itself fails to launch. As I said, the program opens without an issue as long as it's not in the GTA folder. Once it is in there, or in the same folder with a GTAV.exe, it doesn't open.

You say previous versions of Rage work for you - they shouldn't.  If your game is on the most recent version, previous versions of Rage should warn you that it's not compatible.

It does. Again, an old version WILL launch and give me that warning (along with the tabs to change settings etc), but the current version will not launch at all.

In your GTA V directory, open your commandline.txt.  Is there anything in it?  If yes, delete everything inside and save and try again.

If not, type -scOfflineOnly and try.

Ok so I did a fresh install of GTA (3rd time in two days) and LSPDFR and nothing else. Updated RPH to the latest via manual download and still, the problem persists. If I run as admin, it pops up and goes away without any additional windows or prompts. I redownloaded all of the runtime environments for good measure and saw that I already had them installed so that wasn't the issue. Nothing in the logs folder and nothing in the commandline.txt filed. I added the line you suggested with no luck.

Do I need the PlayGTAV.exe to be able to run RPH? I'm missing that from my folder - not sure why. Antivirus is disabled.

I'm not entirely sure if playGTAV.exe is needed, but it did download with GTA, so I'd assume it is needed.

Yes, if you click on the link you will see exactly what I have in my GTA folder.

Do you have Menyoo or Menyoo.asi anywhere in your directory?  I know it's not in the main folder.

Figured it out, hallelujah! What was happening was Ragehook refused to open if there was a Gamebackups.rph file from a previous version or install. I moved the file out of the GTA V root directory and the program opened!
