GTA IV Black Screens

Featured Replies

So this issue just started this morning. I launch GTA via the launchgtaiv.exe in the file directory, and I've never had issues with it. Today, my game would either not load past the start music, sometimes it wouldn't do anything after seeing the main menu, other times it would crash outright. The biggest and most annoying issue is when the music plays, and then it black screens for what seems like forever, without doing anything else. But the few times that my game would start, if I tab out after pausing, my monitor would show the taskbar, but other than that it would be all black. In Task Manager, it would say that IV is "not responding", and that would also happen every time it wouldn't load past the start music/main menu. I just want to patrol Liberty City. If anyone can help it would be very very appreciated.

Hi moDest, what scripts/plugins have you installed recently?

I've only had the same scripts/plugins for the past few months with no issues. I swap vanilla non ELS cars with ELS cars often, so that might be the issue. However I did notice that after I installed a siren mod, my game started acting weird.

You should always have a clean backup of your GTA IV directory before you engage in any modding with the game as this restores everything plus avoids the unnecessary inconvenience of reinstalling the entire game.

It looks like the siren mod is causing it, uninstall it and get back to me bud :)

Yeah this time I made a backup of the game before modding, but all I needed to do was to revert the GTA update.
