How to Map a Car (Windows, lights, Hood/Trunk, etc.)?

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I truly would like to convert a few cars, but don't know how to map stuff like windows. Does anyone know or are there any tutorials? Would I trace it somehow? Also, how do I map textures? Is it the same as using Corleone's Template Tutorial (I didn't read all of it, just some of it)? Thanks guys...

It's more or less the same.

I usally just name my window material: "windows vehglass"

Okay.

But what I mean is: how do I actually make it? Like outline it so it can be renamed. I learned how to make a dummy (thanks Tom's thread) but how do I make a door or something? Like cut it out?

And, again, how do I map a texture? Thanks...

Ah, sorry, dind't read your post completely. : p

Is your model just one big object, or is are the parts separated? If its just a big object you need to select the parts in Polygon mode and detach them.

Follow my mapping tutorial, but drop the template making. Select the parts and assign them to your material and use the UV mapper to position the part.
