[Help] Unable to install new sirens

Featured Replies

I used to have SirenMastery. Upon the release of ELS, I removed SirenMastery, by removing NAudio.dll and the files in the Plugins folder related to SirenMastery.

Ever since deleting it, I've been unable to successfully install new sirens. I watch tutorials, do them exactly as told (no errors or issues there), but when going in-game, the siren is the same old siren I've had since SirenMastery (which I believe came with SirenMastery).

I've also looked at SirenMastery and it states,

"The vehicles.awc size and length limits are effectively removed while using Siren Mastery, allowing for greater siren variety."

I am certain this is the issue (considering this is the file you replace for your sirens). There must be some file still in my directory that is causing my siren to not change :/

Is anyone else having this issue or is it just me? I'm running a pretty damn stable version so I don't really want to make a clean copy and start over.

Please, help! This siren is getting really old.

(I've also included a picture of my directory if that helps at all, haha)

Do me a favor, please.  List out the steps you're taking to add a new siren.  I just changed mine recently without issues.

I followed this person and took every single step without error. The only issue is that the siren itself does not change. I know I'm doing this correctly but SirenMastery somehow screwed up my game's directory, disallowing me to change it.

Thanks for the reply, hopefully I can fix this.

That's rubbish. Siren Mastery does not interfere with your game directory or indeed your default sirens at all.

If they're not being used by the game after you install them you're probably just not installing them in your mods folder.

I did indeed install them in my mods folder. Could there be anything else screwing with my game? I've got no idea what else could be the issue.

Obviously, you've missed a step or did something slightly different than what the video said, which was why I wanted you to list your steps.

Did you create a folder on your desktop to store the .aoc and vehicles folder?

Did you go into Open IV in the right location?  (mods-->x64-->audio-->sfx-->resident)

Did you click "edit mode", then import into open formats?

Here's the answers to your questions:

Yes, I did all of those.

Here's is a shitty video I made of me doing this.

If you know the audio has for the police siren, in OpenIV, find it, and double click it so that it opens and you can hear the siren.  If the siren sounds as it should, this indicates something else is still overriding your mods folder.  I haven't uninstalled SM, so I can't say for sure if that is the issue or not.  Have you previously changed anything audio wise, sirens aside?

The siren is the same as before in Open IV too. and No, I haven't changed anything else audio-wise that I am aware of.

Should I try installing SM again and then seeing if I am able to change the sirens successfully?

If the sirens in OpenIV aren't changing, then they aren't even being imported.  As Albo said, his mod wouldn't interfere with your directory.  I believe that you're doing something incorrectly, but not realizing it.  I just now switched out some siren sounds in my game, updated them, and things are fine.  I would find a different tutorial video to use, maybe the one Gravel Road Cop provides and try that.
