Request: Basic Standalone Ped for Skin Artists

Featured Replies

For skin artists such as myself, making vehicle skins is a blast. But then it's time to make uniforms. A little more challenging, and often these uniforms don't come out as we want them to, perhaps because the shoulder patches are stretched, or because we try to put a 7-pointed sheriff star on top of the default LSPD badge.

My proposal is a single blank ped model, with several different heads, long and short-sleeved shirts, a vest, realistic equipment (Glock in the holster, Motorola shoulder radio, etc), and a choice between a regular police hat, baseball cap, and campaign hat. This would cover most occasions.

For each of these clothing items, there would be a few blank spaces for badges, nameplates, or other text (overlays with transparency), with bump and spec maps to go with them:

  • On both shirts, square areas on either side of the chest, and on both shoulders, with spots for ranks that are normally included on ped models.
  • On the vest, a rectangular area across the front and back.
  • The regular police hat does not need to have an area for a badge, however the baseball cap should have a rectangular area across the front for either text or a badge, and the campaign hat should have a square area on its front.

As for the colors of the shirts, vest, hats and pants, the current system of recoloring the textures is manageable; no need to make changes. Users would be able to draw stripes on the pants themselves.

To whoever might take this on, I very much appreciate it.
