wanna get into modding

Featured Replies

hey guys ive been quietly watching the community here since early lcpdfr ... ive always had a lot of ideas but never did anything to

develop those ideas. they dont seem to stop i always have new ideas, maybe some day, i dont know. but i figured a good place to start would be something super easy like a skin texture.

i did not have intention to post this project nor any project when starting. but only summoned the courage recently. i'm usually the background kinda guy and i do not want to step on any toes, but i just really want to share my skin texture that i have created. so i figured id ask some questions here.

what should i know before posting?

my skin is based off a local tow truck company. what permissions do i need to get from them before posting.

since its like an addition to another mod obviously i will have to direct everyone to the original mod and have them download the truck as well

and ill have a readme in my files.

all this said i know other people have been posting textures for the truck. and i dont want to step on their toes ... my intention is not competition but merely sharing my art.

Cut the crap lets talk truth.

Hey, always glad to see more people wanting to create content, I don't really see it as competition myself - I just want to be able to share what I have to others who might enjoy them.

That said, I felt the same way as you before I started posting my stuff on the site. One thing to keep in mind when posting textures is having a link to the models you're making the texture for in the description. You really only need to upload the texture files themselves. Most of the time, you don't really need to ask for the modeler's permission - just the link to their model and a mention in the credits are enough.

Also make sure that your texture is completely made by you and doesn't use resources from other authors, unless they allowed it. This is probably going to be your biggest concern, as some people can be too sensitive. I even had one who got suspicious over...a font. The kind of fonts you can get for free online...
