I was wondering if there was a way to prevent my update.rpf from being overwritten just for a small patch? how do I do this?

the copy in your mods folder is the old version, nothing in the mods folder is impacted by an update, until you update it. in the ragepluginlauncher select to start the game from a backup and everything will work fine, or you will just have to wait for a new version of ragehook to be released once their host brings the site back up.
