I am trying to install some police car mods. I have openIV and follow the instructions for where to put it in the car download read me. Yes, I am in edit mode. I drag and drop the files. but the cars are still the default cars from in game when I go to play.

in OpenIV, ctrl-f3, type in name of car you're replacing. Example... police2.yft

You will probably see more than one location. Obviously, backup the files before you replace them, but try replacing in the other locations. For example, if a car is in x64e.rpf, and patchday3ng, patchday3ng wins.

Did you buy your game off steam or from somewhere else? Because if it was a disk version rockstar blocks files from being changed. But the steam  version you can edit.

I have the disk version

Than u cant edit the files. without making a mods folder ask other people how to that I don't know how. I had the same struggle as you. I got the disk version too but I later got the steam version.
