Seattle PD Testing 6 Vehicles To Replace Crown Vic

Featured Replies

I stumbled across this article and I know there's been discussion about the vehicles replacing the Crown Vics. It'll be interesting to keep an eye on law enforcement agencies like Seattle that are testing a wide variety of vehicles to find a suitable replacement. Also interesting to know that they're ditching their ugly light blue colors and going to black/white (no offense to any who likes their old graphics) and going to LED lightbars.

Our fleet is interesting because it is dark blue so we can be sneaky sneaky ; ) We have 2 new marked Chargers with LED bars. And unmarked Ford Explorer with interior LEDs. All our Crown Vics have been swapped to LED bars as well. I think the Chargers seem to be where most of the WA departments are headed now. (That's what all the departments in the county are purchasing as replacements anyway).

It's really strange that they planning to get rid of really good-looking dark blue livery. Anyway, good to know that departments started to look fo replacements - last CVs will be... how'd I say... "retired" in 2014-2015, so new fleet must be chosen in 2012.

P.S. I wonder, what Atlanta PD will chose?..
