PC needs upgrading, what parts should I get

Featured Replies

My GT610 died on me and a few other parts of my PC probably need upgrading too so if anyone could advise me on what to buy for the following games. I would prefer my GPU to be an NVidia one, I'm already planning on getting a GTX680.

I would like these games to run at 30-60FPS on Medium-High Graphics

Grand Theft Auto IV
Grand Theft Auto San Andreas

Grand Theft Auto Vice City

Euro Truck Simulator

Euro Truck Simulator 2

Arma 2

Arma 3

Need For Speed Most Wanted (2005)

Space Engineers

net Kar Pro

GTR-2

GT Legends

LA Noire

Test Drive Unlimited

DiRT 3

I can get a GTX680 for £380-£470. Or I could get a GTX650Ti for £110. I will edit this post with my full PC specs in a few hours.

My current PC is an Aspire M9385.

Well for your GPU, for that price, you could get a GTX 980 which would be a little bit better for that price range. It would be a whole lot better if you were playing in like 4k though.

Also, do you have your full PC specs? I looked up the PC you mentioned but it must be old or something because I didn't get any results.

A 980 is too much, I looked at several GPU's and am giving myself a budget of £150 for the GPU.

Here's my PC Specs

System: Acer Aspire M9385 - X64 Based PC

Processor - Intel® Core™ i3-3220 CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3300MHz, 2 Cores, 4 Logical Processors

RAM: 6GB

Total Physical Memory: 5.94GB

Available Physical Memory: 4.10GB

Total Virtual Memory: 299GB

Available Virtual Memory: 296GB

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GT 360

For the GPU, I guess you could wait until the GTX 960s come out. They're supposed to be right around your budget (based on rumours and the other 900 series cards), but they will perform only a little bit less than a 970. If you didn't want to wait for the card to be released (it will be a few months), then you could go for the GTX 760 right now.

I was going for a 750Ti as its £110 or less (depends on where I buy it) and plays most games at good FPS

Sounds good.

Are you going to want a new processor, too? Yours is okay but it's not great.

My budget isn't great and I only get money from college which is £30 a week. What would a suitable processor be to match a 750Ti, or even a 650Ti?
