That could be just a GPU issue where your GPU has stopped calculating for GTA. Happens to me too. I just have to reload the game. I sorta have the same issue as scott. I use DSOUND.DLL and my GTA4 crashes all the time and says its xlive.dll that is causing the crash. Yet, I dont have an xlive.dll file lol or an asiloader.

Dsound.dll and xlive.dll are both asi loaders.

    The diagnostics tool doesn't seem to pickup the asi loaders. I have a fully working copy of both LCPDFR and GTA and it doesn't pick mine up either. Make sure you have the following two installed:
