Hey everyone, after a little while of using zmodeler, I've been looking to challenge myself a little and try making my own 3D modeled items. I was just wondering what the best program to use would be, I have searched through the forums & 3ds max seems to be the consensus but the whole "license" thing has got me confused as well as the enormous price of buying the program itself.

Any help would be much appreciated, and in particular if anyone knows any good tutorials to help get started on the program, I would appreciate that as well.
