Re-skinning tutorial

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have downloaded a skin pack that contains about hundred LCPD themed skins. I have exported the relevant texture and model files using OpenIV for the vanilla cars. I have then copied these files for all of the required cars. This way I can create a new vehicles and handling files etc and have additional vehicles with differing skins.

I have come across a few issues though:

Police2:

I have successfully opened the tewxture directory and replaced the skin on the Police2 vehicle, however, it doesn't seem to map correctly, how to do I map the section of the texture for the rear, front, left right etc? All the online tutorials the guys just swap the texture and it magically matches the vehicle.

Police1:
Where is the livery for this vehicle? Police two has one in its texture directory, this doesn't.

FBI Buffalo:
I have skins for this vehicle but how do I add them to the vehicle, the vanilla car doesn't reference any.

Civ Cars:

How to I add a police skin to a civ car and then map it?

The skins I have downloaded are alternative liveries for police vehicles for the Landstalker, Buffalo and Speedo van, designed for the vehicle, but they just seem to paint to the side of the vehicle as is.

The only solution I can see is to export the skin and copy the sections over the livery, this will work for Police2, but not the others especially the civ cars as there is nothing to export from.
