ok so the problem is fixed and now the game starts but doesnt pop up on screen and then the report GTA IV has stopped working right

Try running the game as an admin (right click on LaunchGTAIV, hit properties, go to compatibility, then click always Run as Administrator). You will find this in:

In C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV if you have the game on Steam or

in C:\Program Files\Rockstar Games\grand theft auto IV\

or if you have a 64 bit computer it will be Program Files (x86) instead of Program Files.

nope still nothing is there a chance that games for windows live is getting in the way?

If you don't want to play multiplayer, then try this:

1. go to your root GTA folder. Once there, go back one level (so like from ...\rockstar games\grand theft auto iv\ to just \rockstar games\ and then right click the grand theft auto iv folder and make sure it is not read only.
   
2. Reinstall LCPD:FR (right click the installer and run as admin) and choose ONLY xliveless (xlive.dll)
   
3. Give that a shot.
   

If all that doesn't work, post another diagnostic log so I can see what is happening with the script now.

oh I forgot, remove the old dsound.dll too. You can move it to another folder somewhere to have as a backup if you want.

sorry my computer is a little glitchy with fire fox.

Accidental double post I see, a mod will remove the extra.

.NET failed to initialize properly from the looks of it. You won't be able to "run" dsound.dll, just move it to a different folder.

Seeing how .NET ran before, I am pretty sure you have the correct program installed. Just to make sure, install this."]this.

Once dsound.dll is moved somewhere try it again. Multiple asi loaders can interfere with each other.

If you have the game through Steam just re-validate your files. If you don't have it on steam.... You'll need to reinstall. I don't know how important that file is to GTA but it should be there.

yea i have it in my computer some where but the damn thing wont pick it up when i search for it.

i dont have it through steam but if i added it on there as a none steam game then could i have done it like that?

so i got the game so that it starts up but now it crashes when its done loading the new game.
