Corleone's unlocked GMC Savana crashing

Featured Replies

Hello guys,

I have a small question.
I'm working on a Dutch ambulance based on the GMC Savana from Corleone.
But now i'm running into a problem. The model from Corleone has a US style licenseplate on the front bumper.
Now i've converted it to a European style Dutch licenseplate (as you can see on the attached picture).

But now when i'm loading it ingame, it crash.
I've only edited the licenseplate and i didn't get any errors while exporting.
It's not my first model so i don't think i'm exporting wrong.

This is what i've done:

- Loaded all textures
- Imported model
- Selected the licenseplate polygons
- De-attached it from the bumper
- Scaled it so it looks like an European licenseplate
- Attached it back to the front bumper
- Saved an .z3d
- Exported the model (without errors)
- Imported ingame
- Spawned ingame
- Crash! (the game will shutdown, and going back to dekstop)

So this is exactly what i've done with the model. Nothing more, nothing less. (except some texture editing in Photoshop)

When i'm using the "non-modified" unlocked .wft, it spawns right like it has to be and the game does not crash.

Could anyone explain what i'm doing wrong or what the problem could be?

Thanks in advance!

Well, hi there Dutch partner!

On export ZModeler adjusts the model for the game as much as it can. So you should try an export at ''- Saved an .z3d'' that stage. So not the re-importing, just export at your saving stage. ZModeler can be a real b*tch to your work! =D

EDIT; Oh, and is there a Dutch Ambulance service that uses the GMC? If not, you should edit it to a Chevy Ambulance. =)

Hello! So you mean, open the .wft of the unlocked model (there is no .z3d file in the package), save it as .z3d and then working on it? Well, i've done that already before i've started modeling on this model.
And yes, my plan is to transform it into an Chevrolet since it's almost the same model a the Chevrolet one. :)

Thanks for reply!

-snip-

Damn, I read it wrong. What I thought is you did a re-import in ZModeler.

Anyway, it crashes when you spawn it? Might be the collision.

If not, you could try to open a new ZMod file and import the export you did. Then the materials etc. will adjust. Then export again, maybe then it will work.

Another possible alternative; Display --> Local Axes --> Reset to World --> press on the bumper.

+ Display --> Local Axes --> Reset to Parent --> press on the bumper.

Looking forward to it! I have some unfinished Dutch copcar mods laying around as well. I really should continue...

Thanks for the trick mate! Well, now i have something more strange. Because the model was crashing after changing the licenseplate, I decided to go further with the roof and lights.
So, i did al the lights, imported the textures etc, exported the .wft and then i've created a new .z3d file, imported the textures, then opened the just exported .wft, and my roof has no texture!
And again, i didn't get any errors in Zmodeler after exporting my .wft

Again i have attached some images. The first image is about how it looks before exporting the model to .wft.
And the second one is when i have re-imported the .wft in a blank new .z3d file.

And i'm sure that i've loaded all the needed textures into Zmodeler before importing the .wft

Can you show us the material of the rooftop?

And, this happened after re-importing the model, right? What happened when you exported, (no re-import in ZModeler) and tried ingame?

Yes this happened after re-importing the model.
When i export the model and spawn it ingame the game will freeze, crash and return to dekstop.

I will post a picture later, i'm on my phone now. ;)

To moderators: Sorry for the double post, but i thought maybe it's allowed to place a new post if the previous message is a few hours old.
If not, sorry it wil not happen again.

As promised here an image of my material setup for the roof.
I can't find things like wrong entry's by myself, but maybe you can discover one! (I think that the name of the material and textures is the issue. But thats because the lights etc are placed on another livery.)

Btw: I didn't change names or textures from the roof. The roof is comming from someone else vehicle (with permission).

It should be ''ambulance_sign_1 paint3 [CLR:1]'' instead of ''ambulance_sign_1''.

Did you import it like this?

EDIT; oh and you might want to make the last texture ''vehicle_generic_smallspecmap'' instead of ''vehicle_genericmudcar''.

And make the texture layer properties from smallspecmap:

Arg2: Specular, Blend Operation: Multyadd on Manual UV1.

Yes. Well i know but i have renamed it because this is not the actual paintjob but only the texures where the roof is mapped on. (the old paintjob from the original vehicle it was on.) But do i have to leave the name as it is when i have another texture as the paintjob? About the texture settings i will try that to!

Don't really understand what you're trying to perform here... Isn't the roof mapped to the template?

No i agree that this is very stupid what i'm trying to do. But i thought that it didn't make sense, but now i see that it does.

This is the situation:

- The GMC model has his own template (livery) already mapped by the creator of the model.

- I have ripped the roof from someone else vehicle and placed it on the GMC.

- The creator of the roof has mapped the (static, not emmesive) lights and other parts of the roof on the template of his model where the roof belongs to.

- So, now i have to import the template of his (car) model as well to make the roof working.

So, in fact i have now 2 livery's/templates on one model (the GMC).

But i want only the correct livery/template of the GMC, as the paintjob and the other livery for only the roof.

It's quite weird i know, but otherwise i have to remap all the lights again and that takes alot of time.

I hope it's more clear now. ;)

Thanks for your time and help so far!
