Setting Specific Flash Patterns in ELS V7

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Wasn't able to find a thread on this, hope I'm not reposting a similar question.

I was wondering if it would be possible to have a specific flash pattern for a specific vehicle in ELS V7. I essentially have an FS Vision vehicle with ELSH enabled, and I want to set it so that AI cars will use the ELSH flash patterns (ie: PRML Pattern E-38).

I may have found a solution to this in the manual, but I'm not sure if it's referring to what I want. If this is how you set a specific flash pattern, may someone please explain it to me?

ELS V7 MANUAL SECTION 3.1: Vehicle configuration files (VCF) allow the user to set several parameters specific to particular vehicle models. In order to be activated, a VCF must be specified by its file name in the File parameter of a vehicle control section in the ELS.ini. Though VCFs are “.ini” files, their extension should not be specified in the ELS.ini. So, for instance, if a user wishes to use a file called “car.ini”, he must identify it is simply “car” (without the quotes) in the File section of the appropriate VCS in the ELS.ini.

A VCF may be used by one or several vehicle models at once, or it may not be used at all if not specified in any VCS. However, every VCS must designate a VCF, otherwise the default ELS configuration options will be imposed. All VCFs must be contained in the ELS folder, or they will not be detected by ELS.
To create a new VCF, a user need simply copy an existing one, rename it, and configure it as desired. As with the ELS.ini, words in brackets or to the left of equal signs should never be altered. To alter settings in VCFs, the user must change the values to the right side of the equal signs with values appropriate to the option being changed. An entry that is either innately invalid or invalid with respect to the particular option being modified will be ignored and the default value imposed in-game.

Thanks! :)

The config files are found in the ELS folder in your main directory. The default one is called something like default_config and in the ELS.ini file you'll find that all cars are using that config file. What you wanna do is go into the ELS folder and create a copy of the default file. Now, rename the file to something that you'll remember (such as the model name of the car that will use this config file (we'll call it police)).

Now open up the config file that you have just copied and named. Lets say you want the default light pattern for your primaries to be pattern 38. In the [ PRML ] section, set DfltPatId to 38. Your [ PRML ] section should now look like this:

[ PRML ]
Type = leds
ForceDfltPat = on
DfltPatId = 38
ExpressModeRandPat = off
ForcePatForSrnTones = off
PatId_Yelp = 0
PatId_Alt1 = 0
PatId_Alt2 = 0

Now, you must navigate back to the ELS.ini file. For the car you want to use this default pattern, change the setting from default_config to whatever you named the file (for the example above it would be called police). Do not put the .ini in the ELS.ini file.

ELS.ini now has this setting:

[ POLICE ]
Status = on
File = police // <- this was changed

Thank you very much for the quick reply and the clear response!

Would this be possible for the traffic advisors as well if I added the DfltPatID  to the [SECL] section?

Yep!

Also something fun to play with is the  PatId_Yelp, PatId_Alt1, PatId_Alt2, options that will automatically change the flash pattern when you enter that siren tone.

Also you can go to ELS folder and create Police.Ini or whichever one you want, by copying the default config and renaming, then there you can change for specific cars :)
