ELS doesn't start

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I'm having a common issue with installing ELS (Emergency Lighting System) on a clean and updated version of GTA V. Despite following various guides and solutions, I still can't get ELS to work properly.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

Installed OpenIV and RAGE Plugin Hook without any problems.
Installed LSPDFR, and everything works fine.
Reinstalled ASI Loader and unlocked ELS.asi.
Reinstalled RAGE multiple times.

The game launches without any issues, but I'm having several problems with the police vehicles' light bars:

Some lights don’t flash or work correctly.
Sirens don’t sound on some vehicles.
ELS commands aren’t responding.
The ELS console (CTRL-P) doesn’t open at all.

Meanwhile, LSPDFR works perfectly.

At the moment, I don’t have any other mods installed, as I wanted to start fresh. My old modded backup is no longer compatible since the latest DLC added several new police vehicles, and I’m looking to replace them all.

Has anyone encountered these specific ELS issues or have any suggestions on how to fix them? I’d really appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

Hello, can you confirm the vehicles ELS files are within the pack_default folder? Also, which vehicles are you using? What is the date on your AdvancedHookV? The one that comes with the ELS files is outdated, you'd need to download the separate download that solely has AdvancedHookV on it.

Thanks for the reply!

Yes, I can confirm that the vehicle ELS files are located within the pack_default folder. As for the vehicles I'm using, they are the default police cars that come with the latest GTA V DLC. I haven't installed any custom vehicles yet.

Regarding AdvancedHookV, the version I’m using is dated 28/09/2024, which seems to be the most recent update. Does this version still need to be replaced with the separate download, or is there something else I should try?

You can try to replace advancedhookv with the one provided on the separate download, but the one you are using should be fine. Its dated newer than the one I use. Since those are ruled out, where did you get the ELS files so I may look at those as well?

I downloaded the ELS 1.05 files from this site. The POLICE.xml file in the pack_default folder is still the original from the compressed folder—I haven’t modified or replaced any of the files yet, besides having replaced AdvancedHookV.dll with an updated version.

Okay, that sounds like your issue. ELS only works when you have the ELS vehicle files for that specific vehicle. If you intend to use the default vehicles, search on this site 'default police pack ELS' and then download the files. Place those in the pack_default folder. Let me know if that works!

For example, heres my folder attached. Each vehicle requires their own ELS file.

You were right! After adding a custom vehicle, specifically police3, ELS is now working correctly. I guess the issue was related to the default vehicles not having the proper ELS files, as you mentioned.

Thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction! I really appreciate the help.
