ELS or DLS ?

Featured Replies

Maybe I'm old school or maybe I'm nostalgic, but is it worth converting to DLS from ELS?

People are going to ask me what I'm looking for or how am I am using the vehicles; Yes, I would like to make my own patterns, so I can see the benefit of DLS (if I'm correct here), but what about all of the other little details? Is there an abundance of DLS vehicle available? How much time will it take to work on one, let alone quite a few, vehicles? Stability? Benefits over ELS?

What are your guys' experiences if you've made the switch?  🤷‍♂️

  • The title was changed to ELS or DLS ?

I have not been a user of DLS long enough to tell you from personal experience, though from what I am told from people who made the conversion, the main argument is an FPS increase. Also from a few users I have spoken to, DLS configurations take a while when you first start off, but gradually get easier as time goes on.

DLS vehicles are made from non-els cars, so in reality, you could use FiveM-ready vehicles as if they were ELS, but with a performance increase.

Personally, I am trying out DLS, but configurations are taking some time to get right, though I wouldn't really have an estimate on how long it takes because the vehicles I am configuring are also being converted to addon vehicles. Though on that topic, when first starting off making my own addon conversions, it took some time, but now it takes me ~20 minutes at most unless I am obviously making it from scratch.

My point is, that it's an experience when first starting off, but once you get the hang of it, it is completely worth it.

It's funny, I've had it for such a long time and teetered with the thought of trying it, but I haven't quite kicked myself into gear to do it yet. I think another part is the ease and convenience of ELS being an [almost] "plug and play" as well as that I like to create liveries like no tomorrow. I spend A LOT of time in Photoshop and think of that time spent vs adding this as well. One thing that does tweak me is not exactly finding the light pattern that I want; similar, but not spot on.

Would you say the FPS increase is worth it? I mean, significant enough to notice?

I like that it seems to open up the optional pool of vehicles available opposed to ELS specific, thats pretty cool. I like the idea and challenge as well, but hows was the learning curve for identifying which light to what setting, etc. for you?

It sounds like it's completely worth it, especially since I'm the kind of person who spends 30/70 playing/customizing LoL

Again, I am not sure as I haven't completed a DLS configuration properly yet, I also haven't spent much time since I got DLS installed configuring anything to my liking as the first model I had was faulty, so I learned after doing the configurations for what I thought was right. From what others told me about it it's difficult at first as you are getting the hang of it, obviously, but it gets easier and is "so worth it".

In regards to FPS boosts, I am not a huge person on getting the most amount of frames in my game. If you have a decent amount of frames you are pleased with, then no, but if you are looking for FPS increases, then definitely yes.

Oh I'm sorry, I misread and confused it when you said that when you converted it took some time, but after a while you got it down to 20 minutes, my fault.

I think it sounds like a project; something to tinker with when you rather customize than play. I can see the benefits and appeal but I'm the same and I'm happy with the FPS I'm getting. I'm definitely not someone chasing that few extra frames by constantly tweaking settings or other things to get the most.

Thank you for the honest and unbiased feedback, I really appreciate it and will start to dive into it one of these days when I get some time because it does sound like something fun to work on.  😃
