Police car into game

Featured Replies

I change design of a police charger using paint.net and it shows up in openiv in a folder i named..do I need to copy it into a patchday folder because I can get it show in game by spawning etc. Or what are the correct steps after the car is designed?

You need to edit the proper .ytd file to wherever the vehicle is located.

  1. Find where you installed the vehicle. This will vary depending on what patchday you used.
  2. Ensure edit mode is on in OpenIV.
  3. Find the .ytd file associated with the vehicle, right click and click "edit".
  4. Find the file of the livery there. It typically is something named along the lines of "sign".
    • There are very few vehicle developers that name the livery file something else, so if you do not have something named along the lines of "sign", you will need to manually look for it. Some other possible names could be "livery".
    • This is not the dirtmap sign.
  5. Right click on the file containing the livery, in most cases like I said "sign", and click "replace"
  6. Find the PNG livery you would like to install, open it.
  7. Wait for the livery to load onto the car, and click "save".

Right click gsp18charger.ytd, click edit, and search for "sign". When found, right click on the name on the left side (under the search) and click "replace" and find the proper file.

If this does not happen to work, please link the car and an in game picture.

Find the appropriate name in the carvariations.meta associated with the pack. This should be relatively along the lines of common/data within the addon car folder, though each addon pack may vary, and I cannot tell you myself otherwise as I do not know the vehicle you are trying to modify.

Edit your carvariations.meta there, and search for the model name (in this case, gsp18charger), find the beginning where it will say

<liveries>
            <Item value="false"/>
            <Item value="false"/>

Depending on the slot the developer is using or the available slots, you may need to switch them accordingly. Though, change "false" to "true" and save.

In the same pathway, find vehicles.meta and search for the same model name you did previously. Scroll down until you find <flags> and check to ensure it has the flag FLAG_HAS_LIVERY, if it does not, add it directly behind the <flags> option.

I also would again ask if this does not work, please provide a link to the vehicle you are trying to use so I can better understand the developers model 🙂

Spoiler

If for some reason you are not getting the model itself in game which you have not stated, ensure you added the dlclist option to your dlclist.xml

Pathway: mods/update/update.rph/common/data/dlclist.xml

Go to the bottom, above "<paths>" and "<mandatorypackdata" and add the line;

<Item>platform:/dlcPacks/Charger/</Item>

I do apologize, though I am sort of limited of what I can provide you as I am getting pictures from several different devices which make it difficult to read. I am assuming you installed the vehicle from the pack in the last screenshot according to the video, or at least from the looks of it, and that is not an addon as you are trying to make it.

Install whichever vehicle model you are using in your latest patchday.

  • For all vehicle models (.ytf & .ytd) files
    • mods\update\x64\dlcpacks\patchday22ng\dlc.rpf\x64\levels\gta5\vehicles.rpf\
    • I have placed patchday22ng as the patchday as that is the patchday I personally use. This does not always work for some people, so it is recommended to use the latest version.
  • Meta install locations are located in the "metas" folder of the download, though if you replace either of these metas, backup your current metas by exporting them to another location, like your desktop.

For your custom livery, reinstall as such like I instructed previously on how to modify your .ytd file, where the livery is located. Make sure you also install the XML files for ELS from the mediafire link the developer provides in the description.

Attempt to follow the instructions of my previous message as I have 0 idea what addon you are trying to configure, as the file download comes as a replace, not an addon.

I copied the car files to a patchday22 folder and finally got it to work in the game...now I just have out  to figure how to get the emergency lights, siren and radio chatter to work but made some progress.

Thank you
