GTA V crashing on startup after updating to newest LSPDFR version

Featured Replies

So I have been running an older version of LSPDFR for a while but was having some bugs take place so thought I would update to the newest version yesterday however since I have done that I have had countless issues and have not been able to load into the game at all, I think I have fixed a few problems but my main issue is that GTA V will just crash seconds into the startup intro even if I am not running it through RagePluginHook. I renamed the Dinput8.dll to see if it was a problem with the mods and when I did that I could load into GTA V perfectly fine so I just don't know what to change in order for it to stop crashing whilst having LSPDFR active. I really regret updating it and obviously you can't download older versions so I just need help to get it running on the new version.

Any replies would be much appreciated, thank you!

Hey there,

If the issue is only occurring with dinput8.dll, this means the issue resides with one of your .asi files.

To diagnose this, please remove all your .asi files from your main directory (save them in a folder somewhere), and drag each one in individually, then load up your game.

Using this, you can pinpoint which .asi script is specifically causing your problem.

Once you've identified which one is causing you problems, let me know. 🙂

Hi thank you for the response! I just started removing all the .asi files and put one back in and it crashed immediately and generated this crash report, i'm not sure if it helps but here it is. I feel like there might be an issue with the rockstar launcher causing the crash but I am not sure, I will keep trying the other .asi files and see what happens.

RagePluginHook.log

Update: the .asi file i put back in was the OpenIV.asi I have now removed it and put in another one and it has just loaded up for the first time! Does this mean i have an old version of OpenIV or something?

Sweet!

OpenIV.asi is responsible for loading your mods folder. This means the issue is in your mods folder.

If you wish to test that, you can re-add OpenIV.asi and rename your mods folder to _mods & retrying.

What recent changes have you made in regards to it?

Ah okay that makes sense, yeh all the other .asi don't affect the crash but the OpenIV.asi does so this must be where the problem is. In regards to what I have changed I am not too sure like I said this all happened when I upgraded to the latest LSPDFR version yesterday after using a much older one before that and I change my police car models around quite a lot and have added new plugins recently and reskinned some other car models like the taxi, would any other this cause a sudden issue with my mods folder?

Huh, maybe not mods folder, probably the plugins.

I successfully loaded in by renaming the mods folder so there must be an issue within the mods folder, all the plugins loaded successfully so it must be something here 🤔

After renaming it to mods and loading it still crashes instantly and generates a crash report, is there a possibility I have something in my mods folder that is not compatible with the new version of LSPDFR?

Should I try removing my custom vehicles or something as those are the only things that tend to go into my mods folder. It has to be something to do with me playing on an older version and now updating to the latest version and having something in there that it isn't compatible with but I am not sure what to do next.

Update: I went onto the discord server of Charlie686 and ran my log through a help bot which suggested I download heapadjusters and packet limiters which I installed and has allowed me to gain access to playing LSPDFR with the mods folder still attached which is big progress. However now I am having visual problems with the floor not loading and half loaded graphics but it did not crash so its progress 😅

Ahh the thing with the ground not loading and half loaded graphics happened to me too, which graphics mod do you use? A graphics mod is probably one of the causes.

I think I have managed to fix that now as well thankfully. It was just that I needed to change the Main.PreloadAllModels to false instead of true and now the graphics aren't disappearing as significantly. I don't have a graphics mod just cause I thought it would cause me even more problems so I stayed away from them lmao

SOLUTION: after a lot of confusion I discovered with the help of Charlie686's discord server that I needed to have heapadjusters and packlimiters and a gameconfig file in my GTA V main directory after updating to the latest version of LSPDFR, after I did this I could load into the game without it crashing and have been able to do everything normally again since doing that so I think it has done the job!

Many thanks to everyone that replied and hopefully this will help others with the same issue 😄
