True Random Location Coordinates

Featured Replies

Hello,

I've been working on mapping out coordinates on my free time. I developed a tool to load and resume recording data into a JSON file. This should help when developing calls so you, the developer, shouldn't have to worry about grabbing a handful of coordinates.

They're not just coordinates, but coordinates with types:

  • Roadside - Always located on the side of a road with correct "rotations". Could potentially be used for callouts that spawn a car on the side of the road/assisting traffic stops.
  • Sidewalk - Sidewalks that are on the side of the road, does not include sidewalks that are within an apartment complex or property.
  • Alley - Alleyways within the city, they differ when it's the Port of South LS or anywhere but the city. Will elaborate later when I have a clear definition. Correct "rotations" for vehicles.
  • PublicGround - Anywhere accessible by the public and where one is not likely to be violating laws for being there.
  • PrivateGround - Anywhere not accessible to a regular citizen unless they're an employee or otherwise authorized to be there. i.e. certain spots in the Port of South LS, home backyard.
  • ParkingSpot - Anywhere with a parking slab or parking meter where a vehicle may park, dirt parking in Port of South LS.
  • Residence - Front door of individual apartment unit or home that is accessible, excluded areas that requires one to jump over obstacles or requires the use of mods.
  • Business - Front door of individual business that is accessible, excludes areas that requires one to jump over obstacles or requires the use of mods.
  • RangePoint - Not necessarily coordinates where something should spawn but used to group coordinate models of types Roadway, Sidewalk, Alley, PublicGround, PrivateGround, ParkingSpot, Residence, & Business. My best explanation as to why this is includes is; imagine you're in DTLS, you wouldn't want a call in the Port of South LS because realistically they should dispatch the nearest unit/one in that beat. If you are in the range of a "RangePoint" which may be 4-5 of those for the Port of South LS then, if incorporated into you callout script correctly, the RangePoint will provide any & all coordinates associated with the Port of South Los Santos. The same logic can be applied to the airport and so on. RangePoints is planned to have a list of "employees" that may work there such as dock workers for the Port of South LS. If you're making a call where an employee is reporting an un-authorized individual snooping around, this would be useful.

Screenshots showing my tool indicate what's marked, not important to use the data but just some insight on how I'm doing this.

As a heads up, the tool only shows nearby marked coordinates and removes ones that are far away so that I may focus on making sure everything nearby me is correct.

Below we see a couple of different blips. Green are residential, gray sidewalks, red private grounds, purple side of road.

Below we see yellow for parking, blue for businesses. In the other image you can see the yellow blips are for the metered parking.

Below I have defined an alleyway. On the left we see green blips for the apartment units, light blue for public grounds, gray sidewalk, purple side of road, yellow parking.

For things like parking, alleyway we can randomly add 180 degrees to change the direction the vehicle is facing. There is no indicator where the vehicle may be facing as I did not record that information.

Again, side of road/roadway will have accurate rotations as I made sure the vehicle faced the correct direction when capturing.

Lastly, there are a couple of tools I wish to release along with this JSON file. Tools that would help capture a handful of coordinates for a selected region (not using RangePoints). All the captured coordinates has an ID. If a developer only wanted to use coordinates relating to an apartment complex or a handful of apartments and nearby space, then the idea is they could draw and capture the coordinates inside the drawn region (using a map) and a list of coordinate IDs will then be exported for the user to use for his or her call.

That's all for now.
