Dinput8.dll making the game crash

Featured Replies

Hello!

Recently I've had to delete my gta and re-install it for modding something wrong (lesson learned make a backup!).

After spending hours re-downloading and installing all my mods I came upon a weird crash which seems to be fixed by removing dinput8.dll but I want to be able to play like before, with EUP and all of that fun stuff.

What is the problem then? How can I fix it?

PS, I have also tried removing  some .asi like Menyoo and ELS but the problem seems to be only with dinput8.

RagePluginHook.log

If removing dinput8.dll (ASI Loader) solves your issue, then the issue resides in one of your .asi files.

To further help diagnose this issue, please move all .asi files in your main directory, to your desktop.

Then, re-add them slowly, to determine which specifically is causing the issue.

Thank you for that...Right, so it looks like it's the OpenIV.asi which leaves me more confused than before.

Any thought?

OpenIV.asi loads your mods folder.

Might be worth checking that. To confirm, you can rename your mods folder to _mods to disable it. 😄

Ok yes that confirms it is something in my mods... what's the best course of action in this case? Delete the mods folder and re-install them one by one?

OpenIV.log

I'd check you have a custom gameconfig, heap & packfile limit adjuster installed.

If so, try reverting your recent changes.

Should all that fail, you'd need to make a new mods folder. 😄

It's a yes on gameconfig, heap & packfile limit adjuster.

The bad news is that I THINK this issue started happening after installing an OIV...but I am not entirely sure.

If that's the case:

1. Download WinRAR/7-Zip

2. Open the OIV file and locate the file called "assembly.xml"

3. In there you can see all files that it replaced. From here you can then remove any files it installed.

Oh that's smart! Ok and dumb question where do I remove them from? OpenIV?

Well, OpenIV is just an application to access certain files in your mods folder; where you'll be removing them from. 😄

Jesus it's like I entered the Matrix. I am not savvy enough to do that.

Think I will just delete the folder and re-do everything or just delete the game 🤣

Just FYI I figured out which mod was messing with my game... It was a "forest expansion" OIV, luckily the dev included a uninstaller oiv as well.

Hi, so sorry but I have to bother you again.

I did enjoy my shift for a while, until I realized that every time I add an add-on vehicle (place addon folder in dlcpack + add line to dlclists.xml) I get the same crash.

Any idea?

EDIT: Nvm got it.
