Hi everyone,

 

I'm a smart girl and figure most things out on my own. My background is mechanical and engineering. I'm very analytical and used to problem solving. I have been chasing this problem for months and months, but it just got worse. I'm an experienced modder and have been modding V for many years with a heavily modified game which was totally fine in the Tuners update. This thread is not about updating game problems, plugins/callouts/scripts etc.

 

I used to have many problems such as Bejoijo's plugin's crashing on duty. the latest RAGE Native UI was the culprit and have gone back to the 1.6.3 version, all is fine. Handy tip for those still struggling. Will not work for all though.

 

My issue came last week. I didnt want to update to the Contract update so i carried on modding my Tuners SP. I had my game very well set up and polished, until I came to add more agencies. BCSO, LSPP, PBPD, DPPD to name a few. After working out how to sucessfully do it,  I managed to get plenty in, testing after each, this included uniforms and vehicles.

 

Then came this dreaded problem, which has only really occured once in every 30 game start-ups. It wes very rare. So the obvious solution was to put back in the vanilla/base LSPDR agencies. Game still crashed. Remove all plugins, mods folder, scripts etc. Game still crashed on startup, just as the game loads in and the camera zooms down to player apartment.

Hmmm. This had me baffled. I moved my entire GTA V directory, and copied in the previous back up. This too suffered the same problem. Yet I had 8 previous backups at different stages of modding which were ALL extremely stable and had been tested for many hours continously with no issues. Totally stable. I even went back to a completely vanilla totally unmodified copy, a complete base game you could have gone into Online mode with. Same issue. Rage just crashed on startup.

 

So i decided to keep my backups secluded on an SSD like I had before, and take a vanilla copy and update to The Contract to start modding again. Again, no callouts/plugins at this point, I just installed a fresh copy of LSPDFR straight from download into the directory, but wanted to test if my agencies really were the root of the problem, its the only update I'd made to my game in weeks. Sure enough, they all worked in the contract update without issue. Tested all in game for hours, no issue. Until I reloaded the game. Crash again. Even the vanilla install of everything still crashed.

 

Below is a list of my totally working setup. Works flawlessly in-game with no issues, its just being able to actually get in game. AND KEEP IN MIND VANILLA CRASHES TOO!

 

The usual anti-crash stuff like heap and packfile adjusters. No issue there.

Just to name a few, the list goes on for a while so I wont bore you any more, they are the most rescource heavy.

 

I have a decent rig, and I know the hardware isnt an issue. And like i stated above I run on Ultra settings, always have, small FPS drop occasionally, but very stable.

I have attached my current RPH crash log. Please remember this happens WITH or WITHOUT any mods. Mods are not the issue. I did believe it to be a RAM issue. I've run stress tests etc. Even formatted my rig to see if that made a difrference. I've even written a batch script to clear "EmptyStandbyList.exe" of working sets and standby list,  launch GTA V, then 2 secs later run Rage Hook, set them both to high priority. All of that helped greatly when I had different issues in the past. Clearing your standby list in RAM makes a HUGE difference, for those who don't know.

 

The log I have attatched is from The Contract update, with a few things thrown in that are "known good". Even if I add more, remove them, or copy a fresh install over and try again this still happens. Same with my tuners update on my stable backups I have many many hours logged playing.

 

Brief recap: Modded or unmodded game will 9/10 times not hook and LSPDFR crashes just as loading into the world. Once in game, totally happy and stable. I could handle the 1/30 times it would crash. But failing to hook 9/10 times is fustrusting as I'm sure you can imagine.

 

My Tuners game runs the appropriate LSPDFR, RPH, Scripthooks etc for that version.

 

My Contract game runs the aprropriate LSPDFR, RPH, Scripthooks etc for that version.

 

So, can anybody please shed any light on this? You'll make a girl very happy indeed :)

Ok, so it would seem the day I make a lenghty post asking for help, I find a fix.

 

I must have made my millionth google/forum trawl, and came across a RDR2 forum where someone had a similar issue. Somebody mentioned to try "EasyHookPatch". I've nevr played any Red Dead games, but I know they use the RAGE engine. I downloaded the zip and plopped a small .asi script in and voila!

 

Ive started my highly modified Tuners SP, my slightly modded Contract SP and tried a clean install with LSPDFR, hasnt crashed once. I've opened a lot of browser tabs, played music and had programs open as well.

The issue I had still exists but it's able to move past it:

Hope somebody someday finds this helpful. It's bugged me for the longest time.
