After looking through tons of pc's on the internet ive came across this one (Dell XPS 8500)

3rd gen Intel® Core™ i5-3450 Processor (3.10GHz, 6MB)

8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM

AMD Radeon™ HD 7570 1GB DDR5 Graphics Card

What im wanting to do on it

  • Record with Fraps or another recorder.
  • Play LCPDFR (who wouldnt).
  • Mod most of the police cars.
  • Use a ENB or enhancer.
  • Video editing.

So what do you guys think should I get it or not and will it be able to do any of the above. What are the good and bad points and what will I be playing it on low medium or high settings?

Note : Im only 14 so please dont reccomend building my own because that would be an impossible task

Thanks in advance :biggrin::smile: :biggrin:

good have fun

Won't be able to do everything you said with good FPS.

Will be able to run with ELS and modded cars maybe a ENB that just enhances the light texture when recording maybe you will be around 20 FPS. Not to sure about that graphics card as I can't find it any were on the internet. Care to share a link of it?

You have a good CPU and good ram right now. I don't know what graphics card that is so I can't say for sure let me do some more research quick....

*****************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

:Update:

Doing some more research with the graphics card on normal settings you will be able to run ELS, modded cars and what not at around maybe 30 FPS. If you add a ENB in there it will drop it down to about 25 to 20 FPS. (lower fps is worst)

When recording you will be in the 10 range for FPS. Thats if you have a ENB or icehancer.

I know you said you can't really spend money but let me link you to a card that will probley give you 30 maybe even 50 more FPS.

One of those will give you alot more FPS and you than will have a good gaming computer just for a few hundred more dollars lol...

My build right now is

MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1

CPU

Intel Core i5 2500K @ 3.30GHz 29 °C

Sandy Bridge 32nm Technology

RAM

8.00 GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 800MHz (11-11-11-28)

Motherboard

ASRock Z75 Pro3 (CPUSocket) 33 °C

Graphics

VG2230wm (1680x1050@59Hz)

1023MB GeForce GTX 560 Ti (nVidia)

I run GTA 4 with modded cars, a ENB, ELS, and what not at around 80 FPS recording I go down to 60 FPS this is really good anything above 70 FPS in gaming is really good...

If you don't have the enhacer you will have more FPS yes. THere are enhacers out there that will give you more FPS and make the game look better because they smooth out the graphics like this one i'm about to link you.

Also these road texture will help out with FPS to got about 5 more FPS this thse road textures also they look better.

This is what my game looks like with the ENB and road textures... Also with this ENB I gain FPS.

Check out my updated post up above...

Your specs are what you said they are right? If they are you shouldnt get 12-15 fps =S

Make sure you have the lastest drivers for all your hardware

Download and install slim drivers. Will scan for any out dated drivers than give you the link to install them...

It seems like a good computer, but its quite expensive... I got a very similar computer to that, except mine is a laptop and it cost me $450, or about £280

I know you probably don't have Futureshop in the UK, but with the budget you have you should be aiming for a computer like this http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/product/cyberpowerpc-cyberpowerpc-gamer-xtreme-3rd-gen-intel-core-i7-3770k-desktop-computer-gxi430-english-gxi430/10210072.aspx?path=96d1bd72432606fb43c5a7ab44e4383fen02.

As well, i7 processors have double the cores of an i5, so try to aim for i7 (with hyperthreading, it's an 8-core processor).

What one would you reccomend?

The second one I linked

There is no way you got a laptop that good for only $450..... Unless it was used or who ever sold it was dumb and sold it for $450 when he could of sold it for $1200

Normally costs about $700, was on sale for $600, used a friends employee discount. Got it shipped to me for $450 :) Again, I never said the computer was the same. My computer has a similar processor, two gigs less RAM, and a very similar processor. I understand his computer is still quite a bit better, but considering that I got one for half the price is a bit odd.

Edit:

Just realized you might have thought I was talking about the computers you were linking. I was actually referring the OPs computer.

do you run that laptop on max settings? is there any problems running gtA?

I'm able to run vanilla GTA 4 at max settings, but it really isn't the greatest. With the amount of mods and things I have, I can run it at medium settings, but I prefer to actually run at low due to the fact that I'll usually have the steam browser and possible a few other programs running at the same time. All in all, I can play GTA 4 + LCPD:FR + 8 other scripts + around 10 custom cars quite well.
