[WIP] Generic British Dispatch for LSPDFR

Featured Replies

Foreword:

Hello, before I properly get into things I just want to say this is the first ever mod I've made for LSPDFR or anything. Also, I think this is the right forum to post this in, apologies if it's not.

About the Mod:

I decided to make this mod after noticing the very well made British Dispatch/Control Vocal Pack for LSPDFR & Various Plugins! 1.1.0 mod having last been updated in 2017.  All in all, the purpose of the mod is to replace the very American sounding dispatcher with a more generic British one, for those of us that prefer to play as any one of the many British police forces. I also intend to cover as many of the popular callout mods as well, so that you don't have the annoying experience of a British dispatcher one second, and an American one the other.

The mod won't come with any tones or anything like that, for that I'd highly recommend existing mods.

Current State of the Mod:

Currently I've done the voice lines for all the default LSPDFR dispatch audio, and implemented all of them. I have also done any voicing required for a variety of other mods that also have their own audio files. There's still some issues to work out, but as things stand currently the mod is nearing completion (currently at 777 unique audio lines).  I come from Scotland and have an accent that's quite distinct, so wanting to make a more generic British control means that I've got to put on an accent. Specifically I'm looking for feedback on:

  • The Accent - Is it believable? Or is it very obvious that's not how I naturally speak?
  • The Effects - I'm no audio editing genius, I've looked up some basic tutorials to see if I can make the voice sound like it's coming via a radio. Does the effect sound good, or do you think it needs more work?

The tones heard in the video will not be included in the mod as they are not my work, they are merely what I use in my own game sessions. The mod can be found on LCPDFR.com here.

Plan for Release:

As of right now there is no set in stone, or even estimated, date of release for the mod. I'm not a fan of releasing things half finished, so I intend to release the mod feature complete. That means not only base LSPDFR audio files but also other LSPDFR callout audio as well.

It may take some time to get it all done given that I'm the only one working on this, and that there's around 400 or so voice lines I've got to do, on top of however many get added by other mods out there. Not only do I have to voice them (in my cupboard to cut out as much background as possible), but I then have to separate the recordings into their individual files, and then run a macro which edits all the files with the audio effects.

Potential Feature:

I personally won't be redoing the various SMY cop files. If you sound around over the age of 21 or so, and have access to a space where you can do lines without lots of background noise, and want to voice some lines, then feel free to fire me a message.

This looks amazing and I have been looking for a British dispatcher for a while. I am really looking forward to it. Do you have any idea to when it will be released?
