Yeah the guy who made this video is an asshole, he deliberately draws attention to himself so people call the police, then jumps into legal technicalities that he has just spent the last few days researching. The officer isn't there to infringe on his rights or be a dick, he's simply there to sort out what's going on and respond to the concerns of citizens. It isn't the police officer's fault that the state has fucked up carrying laws, and if the guy is doing this is protesting against those laws he is going the wrong way about it.

Somewhat related; I just drove past a totally civilian verison of the gta iv Vapid Cruiser on the streets of Los Santos. Very interesting!
-
Yeah cheers, let me know if the issues are actually fixed or if it's just doing that thing where it only works for me.
-
Updates have been released to the Enhanced Vapid Cruiser (Vector)!

(I hope) I have fixed the headlight-shooting-CTD error! (with help from KevinDV)
Download: '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>>
The Loot: I tried the badge-less textures from Abraxas with this new model and they work fine. Let me know if there are further issues
-
I didn't realise they came in different colours. Awesome!
-
Ekalb's enchanced Vapid. Too bad that mine crashes every time I shoot lights (not lightbar).
I don't know why this is and I really really want to fix it :(
The Loot: Which model are you using? I may have accidentally exported it with textures inside, so any small textures are difficult to edit. I can fix it and re-upload if you let me know.
edit: Did I just fix it...?No I did not.Okay I think it's fixed! Updates for all Vapid Cruiser platform vehicles incoming!
F*#$!!!!!!!!! I've tried everything I can think of;
Restoring the original lights
Adding collisions to the lights
Re-arranging the lights in the hierarchy
Yet I still can't work out what's going on here.

Well this should be a stealthy-unmarked-interceptor-y type vehicle, based off the unmarked vapid in GTAV. I'll do one version optimised for fbi and another optimised for noose. If you can think of any appropriate liveries that'd be awesome.
-
I should definitely finish other projects before starting new ones...

(Proposed) changelog:
Retexture prisoner divider to be mesh style [X]
Create new grill with:
-Grill backing texture [X]
-Single horizontal bar [X]
-Vapid Badge [X]
-Red/Blue LED lights on bar [X]
Add new pushbar [X]
-Retexture [X]
Add frames to numberplates [X]
Add 2 spotlights [X]
Add front-facing interior lighting [X]
Add rear-facing interior lighting [X]
Add 'dome' hubcaps [ ]
Miscellaneous texture edits [ ]
I won't try to rehshape the model in any significant way as that will affect textures.

And disregard this if you mean the liveries on the interceptors.
I did mean the interceptors and the buffalos versus the vapid patrol cars and the transporters. They're all LS (city) police but with different liveries and it's hard to make sense of why they opted for that.
-
Downloading!
... And I feel I should do more models of these ones if nobody minds? Perhaps a proper unmarked Vapid Cruiser, an mx7000/slicktop to match the Buffalo and maybe a proper unmarked Buffalo.. Hmmm...

A few awesome things in this game for modders to take note of should GTAV ever make it to PC:
1. Obviously the LED lightbar systems are great
2. Halogen light effects have also been updating to actually rotate around the environment
3. A number of extra cars aside from just emergency vehicles have lightbars you can turn on using the siren button, including the lifeguard SUV (Amber LED lightbar with the older-style glowing orbs) and the towtrucks (no siren but the siren key will activate amber halogens)
4. Some cars have the ability to activate additional lights instead of just the headlights when you turn on high-beams. This means that you could have takedowns that activate only when you turn on the vehicle's high-beams, and not be on all the time when the vehicle's headlights are on.
5. The vapid patrol car can spawn with two different lightbars independently, so you could have it spawn with LEDs once and a different halogen bar another time.
One thing I really don't understand though is what we've mentioned so far, that the liveries are different despite being from the same police department.
I think it'd be really cool if someone from the community here could somehow get in touch with someone from rockstar and quiz them a bit about all this.
edit: and one thing we're in desperate need of is some police versions of the Buffalo Sport (2012 charger)!!

I have no idea what you're trying to say. For all we know, gta v cars could be in a totally different format to gta4 cars and we may not have the programs necessary to import and export them.
-
Converting the cars from gta 5 to gta 4 will have to wait until the game is released on PC. It is only available on consoles at this stage and a PC release has not even been announced, it is only assumed to happen.
-
I believe OP wants to do the opposite, and replace civilian cars that drive around with peds with functioning police cars.
Unfourtunately though, I don't think it's possible to do in terms of having those cars work with a siren/police-computer/traffic-stop ability. If you haven't already you could look for a cars pack that will add police3, police4 and policeb to regular gta iv which you can then have as other police cars. The sirens will work but the computers won't.
-
Pretty certain there are arrest animations, and you shouldn't really be surprised some content is re-used from gta iv. It's not like there was anything wrong with it...
-
It's so entertaining. The random world events from red dead redemption are back in such a cool way too. I was driving around in one of the police cars at one point and i just happened to drive past a mugging, chased down the guy, retrieved the purse and got a reward when i returned it.
-
Put your dancing shoes on, we're about to tango baby!
-
Traffic, parking, local council ordinance, workplace safety, pricing and consumer laws etc.
But you are right, in this case the breach would probably only be of a contract between retailers and rockstar so action would probably be limited to suing.
e: I think i misinterpreted what you meant originally cp, sorry for jumping with my response like that when it was mostly irrelevant!
-
Nope. Lawsuit from Rockstar, maybe, but it certainly wouldn't be considered criminal.
People can still be fined over non-criminal laws.
-
And instead we should focus all our energy on 1.0 then? Righto.

For the script to 'know' when you're responding to an LCPDFR callout or doing an LCPDFR pullover it'd have to communicate with LCPDFR, which can't happen until the API is released (ETA unknown). For a script like what you want, you'll have to wait until then for anyone to do it.
Theoretically someone could probably make a script now where you manually contact dispatch to do these kind of things (like pressing alt-f1 when you're at a traffic stop and alt-f2 when you're at any other callout to trigger the appropriate dispatch conversation), but I'm not skilled in that area.

Holy shit that's severe man, and it sucks too because I can't imagine the quality of your real-life work not being on the same high level as your gta-mod-related work. I hope you land on your feet, don't worry about the mods - to be honest we're probably all a bit busy playing gta v anyway!
All the best though.
