  1. It looks like the Buffalo design there is a single, thick blue strip, seemingly for NOOSE and that particular unit is [something] Protection. It could be my Buffalo with an edited lightbar but I know that Sam had a buffalo and Lt.Caine/Luxart had one so it's just as likely to be either of those.

  2. Coronas are drawn relative to the 3D cordinates of each vehicle. At this stage they aren't tied to anything but that is intended in the future (so that for example, only when a certain component is on will the lights associated with it also flash).

    EVCS Demonstration: Vapid

A taste of how you can use EVCS to customise and control your police car, and easily switch up the way you patrol.

  3. All in all, it's a very early version of the mod and its featured at this stage are understandably limited. Hopefully though, based on my own conversations with Grady about what he wants to do with the mod and what we'll then be able to do with emergency vehicles it could bring something really new and exciting. With the features the mod is intending to deliver it will be way more than just a simple lighting system. It should allow you a great level of control over your vehicle and how you use it to police Liberty City.

  4. If you try to register 2.2.6 with a bad code it won't give you the warnings about registering when importing, but it still won't work as a registered version. Why someone wouldn't look at what using Zmod requires before buying it is beyond me.

Post your issue on the zmodeler forums.

  5. I'm working on a couple of vehicles to make use of the EVCS beta. This one is the vapid and currently you can control the pushbar and the lightbar, so you can have three different types of police car (general patrol, highway patrol and unmarked) all in the one slot, and switch things up to your liking using the EVCS mod.

I'm also testing a tow-truck using the mod so you can have an amber lightbar, seperately controlled amber lights on the tray, and the ability to deploy/retract a ramp and to put up or put down barriers around the tray.

Obviously as EVCS progresses, giving us more control over the vehicle, I can expand these concepts further.

  6. But I was chatting to Grady about EVCS and he wants to try and get it so his mod lights can be tied to extras, and will only flash if those extras are active.

So I'm looking at a fully customisable car, where the base is just like a civilian vapid cruiser and then you can use EVCS to add the police equipment you want, and change the livery to the type of policing you want to do.

  7. Ooo that's cool. Extra 1/2/3 could be different rambars, extra 4/5/6 could be different technology setups and 7/8/9 could be different lighting arrangements, being fully customisable with EVCS.

Only downside there is that adding all those objects adds polys and increases the filesize, and I don't think EVCS has the ability to control all the extras at this stage, nor attach lights to certain extras.

Might do some more work on the vapid tonight.

  8. I like to think of it as more of an enhancement to the default lighting system, and on that front it's great.

Take a look at these pics:

Using EVCS to enhance my vehicle, I now have lights on all the LED modules. With the default lighting system, I could only have a few lights on my lightbar that I had to strategically place to get the best coverage, and I could only spare 2 lights to go elsehwere, which went on the top LED modules on the back of the pod, leaving no lights for the pushbar and no lights for the bottom LEDs on the pod.

Now in this situation, ELS could also give me lights everywhere I want them go, but that'd come at the cost of the refreshing/invincibility issue, which sucks because when I'm putting prisoners into this vehicle I like the effect of having the pod door open, rather than having it flickering back and forth.

The only evident downside from EVCS is that some of the coronas can show through part of the vehicle, depending on where I'm looking at it from. But when you also think about the functionality you get from more control of your extra parts, liveries and siren, this isn't a huge issue.

Sure, maybe a mod in the future can deliver everything good here but with none of the bad. Personally, I don't mind using coronas for the lights. With my ENB I think it looks just fine. The advantage of EVCS again though is that it is (to a degree) released.

EVCS is also great to enhance the lighting for people who don't wish to use modded cars at all.
