  1. Honestly your best bet and only option is to have them add you to their policy. Besides getting your own car, thats it. I don't see how it can be any more expensive to add you as a driver than to get your own policy. It should be cheaper to add you to theirs compared to your own policy. Granted their insurance is already high but all you would have to do is pay the difference. My example above still applies. Even if their insurance is $3000 every 6 and adding you takes it to $3500-$3700, thats still cheaper than the $1100 you were quoted on your own. If your some reason adding you takes there insurance up $1100 well then its a wash and you might as well just add yourself to theirs anyway since it really doesn't matter because it can't be insured twice so your independent quote doesn't hold any ground. So you have 2 options, get your own car or get yourself added to the plan.

  2. I don't understand why you would want to? I honestly don't know but just thinking about it I would say no on the grounds that its probably illegal. If you had it insured twice, you could make claims twice, use the first claim to fix it and pocket the second. What you can do is just have her add you on as the primary driver or a driver on the car. If your listed as the primary the price is going to skyrocket but there isn't anything you can do about that, one of the pleasures of being young. Also it depends on what kind of car it is, that will reflect the price as well.

Heres a example: for the sake of this example lets say you can insure a car through 2 companies. Your mom pays $300 every 6 months through her company and you might pay $1300 every 6 months through your company. Now if you go on the same plan she has it may only be $850 every 6 months. You then can pay her the difference, $550 every 6 months instead of the $1300. As I said before it all depends on what sort of car it is but even for a older car around $1000 isn't that far off for a new driver every 6 months. I'm just using the quote I got when I was 18. We pay every 6 months to our company but your plan may be different. I'm now 25 and I only pay about $225 every 6 months. It probably goes without saying but its VERY important to keep your driving record clean, tickets or accidents will only drive the price up even more

UPDATE: Just by the little bit of research I did, it seems you cannot insure a car twice especially in two different names

  3. I disagree also that a child should never be let near a firearm. The age range I refer to using the word "child" is around the age this girl was, 8-10. In the same breath though, I strongly believe there have to be strict rules and guidelines that are followed if they are. I'm just going to use myself as a example. When I was around the age she is, about 9, I was gifted my first BB gun. I was taught how to use it properly and that was the only gun I was allowed to shoot. I was allowed to handle other unloaded guns like our .22's and shotguns but never handled them loaded or shot them at that age. Once I was older I was moved to the .22 and when I was of hunting age (13) moved on to a 20 Gauge. I've been instructed by my family my entire life as well as formal safety classes. I never enjoyed hunting but I enjoy weapons and shooting them. I guess my point is that with the correct guidance a child age 9-10+ can safely handle a firearm if they are taught to respect it, proper weapon safety, and if they are slowly graduated along the correct calibers (in my opinion). At the age of 9 my father would have never put me behind a full auto weapon for 2 reasons, safety and the fact that I wouldn't have been able to handle it.

  4. Wow, I would have never expected that... I liked that show, well I liked the roots of the show i.e. making the guns but I could do without all the fake scripted drama that goes on. I understand they do that to keep people coming back and to keep it interesting but it gets sickening after awhile. I'm not sure what to think, it says he was a fugitive which I would have never expected either. He always had law enforcement people on that show and seemed to be friends with the local brass. I suppose though - "its just a TV show" so that could have all been fake

  5. You seem to have been helped with the first question but your second one about a lack of a "police.wtd". The WTD contains all the textures to be used on the car with the exception of the vehshare textures. Those DO NOT have to be added to the WTD since they are already located elsewhere within the IV directory. The WTD you make yourself, thats why some unlocked cars don't include one. Lets say your replacing your created car in the noose spot, the WFT model gets exported as noose.wft and you import it as such. Then open the noose.wtd and erase all the texture files inside. After that you can import all your textures you used on the car, ALL of them otherwise you'll have white parts in the game. like I said before though, its not necessary to put the vehshare textures in the WTD. Oh and backup your noose.wft and noose.wtd prior to importing over top of them

  6. I've been to full auto shoots before, and no matter how big some one was the full-auto owners kept a hand right behind the shoulder the gun was pressed into.

Yea thats what I thought, I've since edited that post but the video above is seconds before he was struck so that was his position when killed. Standing beside her like that he had little to no control over any force that would have been exerted on her by the recoil.

  7. I would blame the gun, not the parents - or the kid. If letting a kid shoot was that bad, gunranges wouldnt exist. In a way it can be the parents fault, she should of started with a .22 handgun or something similar. Then again it was a girl, considering they have less upper body strength that might of went into play..But either way a 9 year old shooting an extremely dangerous weapon, on full auto - Thats a recipe for disaster.

Here is the video, thankfully it cuts off at the incident. Then again look where the instructor was when she shot it.

I don't know how you could blame the gun and not the kid/parents, the gun is fired by countless others without issue along with other automatic weapons. Then again I don't know if "blame" is the right word for this situation. This is a situation that never should have happened from the beginning, she should have never been given the option to or been told to shoot that gun on full auto. As many of you have said and I agree, she should have only been shooting a .22 until she was proficient enough to understand and respect a weapon. Not take a trip from New Jersey and put her behind a full auto Uzi. That would be like taking a 15 year old driver with a learners permit, putting them behind the wheel of a Ferrari and telling them to go 150 mph. They would crash because they are young and incapable of handling the situation and the equipment. I honestly feel bad for both parties, the man and his family for obvious reasons as well as the girl and her parents. As angry as I am that they put her in that situation, it still makes me feel for them because I can only imagine how horrible they feel. Even though it was a accident their daughter took a mans life in the course of a situation they put her in and they will have to live with that.

As for the video - it conflicts with the story with the story saying he was standing behind her when it happened which would make more sense than the position in the video. It didn't say if the actual shooting was caught on tape or not, if it did I missed it. That could have been shot prior to the actual shooting. Him standing behind her would fit the order of events that it recoiled causing the gun to go backwards over her shoulder hitting him in the head. Now, this whole situation aside, shouldn't the instructor be in a place (when having someone shoot a full auto weapon) that he would be able to stop the weapon from walking up/right/left like that? By having his arms or hands placed in a way to prevent that?

EDIT: I did some more reading, you were right, that is the video where only seconds later he was shot. So that was his position when he was struck.... The gun must (obviously) have recoiled to the left, striking him. You can hear what sounds like the girl dropping the gun and the split second of a scream/yelling..chilling

Thanks to everyone for the input and replies, I enjoy reading everyone's views and opinions

  8. So I just read this story and figured I'd post it if anyway hasn't seen it yet. What are your thoughts on this? As someone who's been around firearms their entire life and trained in its proper use it really bothers me that a 9 y/o even got close to that weapon. To make it even worse - all of this was caught on video. If you google it you can see a small clip of him getting her setup to shoot it. The gun shop allows children as young as 8 to shoot guns and trains them on unloaded firearms at a even younger age. I think thats great, if a parent makes that choice to have their child learn the proper ways of handling and shooting a weapon. However I don't understand how the parents of this girl even remotely thought it would be a good idea for her to handle a fully automatic Uzi. I've seen grown adults have trouble handling a weapon on full auto let alone a 9 y/o with little to no experience. I understand we probably don't know all the details to this yet and please don't let this turn into some sort of flame war.

"The child shot once and then lost control of the Uzi, firing four more shots. The recoil during the child's operation of the firearm sent it over her head and resulted in Vacca being struck in the head." That sentence gives all the reason we need as to why this should have never happened. The CHILD..lost control (of a fully auto weapon - no surprise there) causing the recoil, which everyone should have known she wouldn't be able to handle, to send it over her head and striking him in the head. You really can't explain to an adult what recoil feels like or how much recoil something has until they actually shoot it. Now how did we expect a child to be able to understand this and be prepared for it which she obviously wasn't since it walked back over her head with her finger still on the trigger. Now a family man with 10+ years of military experience is dead... Why? So they could say their 9 y/o shot a full auto uzi. I hope the parents are happy because now the whole world knows. Sorry if I repeated myself while typing this - when I read this is just made me really angry that it even was allowed to happen.

    ARTICLE:...

"DOLAN SPRINGS, AZ (FOX5) - Authorities in northwest Arizona said the recoil on an automatic Uzi while in the hands of a 9-year-old girl led to a weapon instructor's fatal shooting. Charles Vacca, 39, of Lake Havasu City, AZ, died Monday night while being treated at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office said Tuesday. The sheriff's office said the incident happened about 10 a.m. Monday at an outdoor shooting range at the Last Stop at 20606 North Highway 93 in White Hills near the Nevada-Arizona border. According to the sheriff's office, the instructor was standing next to the girl who was handling a 9 mm automatic Uzi. Citing an investigation, the sheriff's office said the child shot once and then lost control of the Uzi, firing four more shots. The recoil during the child's operation of the firearm sent it over her head and resulted in Vacca being struck in the head, deputies said. The man was airlifted to UMC where he later died. The sheriff's office said the child's parents were present at the time of the incident. A spokeswoman with Mohave County Sheriff's Office said the girl's father handled the gun first before the 9-year-old operated it. "It's so easy for us to go back and look at something that's very tragic and say, 'Boy! Why did that occur? That should not have happened because of,'" said Mohave County Sheriff Jim McCabe. "Well, maybe from now on, that 'because of' will be in place." On Tuesday, cell phone video shot by the girl's mother was released, showing the moments leading to the fatal shooting. In the video, Vacca is shown instructing the girl on stance and operation of the weapon.

The Clark County Coroner's Office was assigned to perform an autopsy."

  9. When you read the thread title it sounds a little strange. I thought to myself, why would you only donate $15 to the cause when you just won $40,000,000. I also got a little excited since I thought you meant all content devs, like myself, once I read into it a little more I saw you are only hypothetically giving to the FR crew. Ah its nice to think what you would do with $40M... or even $15M. Although when you think about it (if you buy very expensive and lavish things) $15M isn't really all that much. Spent/invested wisely though, that could support a few generations comfortably

  10. I only did a actual uninstall maybe 2-3 times. Then I learned its much faster to just make a entire copy of the IV directory and if I screw something up I just paste that back in. I keep a vanilla backup as well as a current backup that I use to do every few weeks depending on how much stuff I was changing. Now days I don't change much anymore besides cars/guns/peds so there really isn't much to screw up there.

  11. Glad it helped - now that you have it narrowed down to those 3 things take them all out and put them back in one at a time. Then you'll know your problem or problems if its multiple parts. I had a feeling it was going to be the misc equipment. Thats what always gave me issues as well when I happened to have RC20 problems with a car. As for the door/window and tire issue I would have no idea. When you spawn the car the windows/door are at weird angles? Or the doors open at strange angles? Do the doors and windows angle the same way in relation to each other? Like this Or does one go and the other /? Hope you can understand my stone age diagram

Off topic - seeing that GIF in your signature in the corner of my eye when I was typing this and my first response is enough to drive a guy insane

  12. Its not just high poly cars, it can be a variety of things and I don't know if anyone actually knows what causes the error. I've had it happen before and fix it by simply renaming a misc in the hierarchy or attaching a item to something else. Sometimes a item has to be removed altogether. I would start at the hierarchy and go from there. I (personally) believe it has to do with the hierarchy. First try the easy way - rename your misc to something else, so if its "misc_e" right now then try "misc_k". If that doesn't work then go to the next thing. What I do is remove all the police stuff and test the car, lets say it works, then you add in a small section of parts, export, test. When I say "remove the police stuff" I mean just pull it out of the police.wft hierarchy so it doesn't export with the car. You don't have to redo the entire car piece by piece. If it still works then keep adding sections of parts until it crashes and then you have a good idea of what part could be causing the crash. Then of course you can go part by part once you know the general area and once you know the part you can choose to delete it or attach it elsewhere. Sometimes the only way is to delete it. Thats my method if I don't feel like redoing the entire car which I've known people to do if they can't solve a RC20. I've scrapped entire projects due to the error and not being able to solve it. Did you test the car, it worked and then made some adjustments which led to a RC20? If thats the case try and reverse those adjustments and see if it still works

  13. Well depending on how you setup the ELS it could be done. Let say you don't want a traffic advisor, then you could use extra 7, 8 for your pushbars and just setup the ELS ini so that the TA hardly turns on. Then using the trainer you could just apply/delete the pushbar you wanted using the add remove components feature.

  14. Well I am not sure what you are playing on, I'll just tell you what i play for reference. I play on a windows 8 laptop.  Its great playing GTA but if I use the mouse pad instead of a USB mouse, I will hit the edge of the mouse pad while changing view and it will take me to desktop not allowing me to go back to GTA.

Windows 7 x64 on a desktop so no issues with the mouse. I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this. I guess I'll just wait and see if it stops or if someone replies with a solution or idea for a solution.

@ Perez - Nope, I haven't touched anything since it worked fine to when it started to do it (besides windows auto updates that the computer did itself). Its only been doing the crash/exit thing for maybe 2-3 weeks. I thought maybe it was just something with GTA but when I was playing FSX the other day it did it for that game too.

  15. It's most likely an external program. Try closing everything that isn't necessary while playing, and see if it still occurs.

Thats what I thought too but I don't run anything else while I play and I've ended everything via the task manager that isn't critical or that hasn't caused a issue in the past. Its just strange because it exits and I expect there to be a window there with a message or something wants to be updated and theres nothing.... Its annoying especially with GTA IV online because I crash out then because of being on the desktop for to long.

  16. Lately I've been having this problem with GTA IV and FSX. It will randomly just exit to desktop like i ALT+TAB out but of course I dont. The games are still running fine and can be ALT+TABd back in to but its just annoying when it happens. There are no pop ups or anything to cause it to do it. Sometimes I can play for hours and no issues but other times it will do it twice in 1 minute. Any thoughts as to whats causing this?

  17. Interesting to hear that over in the US you have police escorts for funerals. To me that would seem really strange, never seen one for a funeral over here. Any reason as to why the do it? Because to me it would seem strange to have the police escorting a funeral. It doesn't really make sense (except for things like traffic congestion).

I'm surprised too that people from the US are saying they've seen escorts for funerals. Now I"m sure every state is different but here in Wisconsin they don't do that anymore. They use to, because I can remember seeing it when I was young but its been years and years since I've seen one for a funeral.

As for what I've seen - there was one occasion about 2 years ago. I was driving on the freeway probably around 12:00 at night and traffic slowly started to slow down. There wasn't much traffic, about what you would expect for midnight. All the sudden I notice 4 Wisconsin Highway Patrol cruisers (all CVPIs) up ahead, lights flashing, and one was in each of the 3 lanes blocking traffic and the fourth was along side the road. They were moving, slowly, probably 25-30 MPH and just kept on driving for a long time. Like a rolling road block. Then all the sudden we approached a construction site and the lanes slowly closed from 3 down to 1 and the troopers broke off as the lanes closed. So I'm assuming they were in the process of closing those lanes for construction and needed to slow traffic down for the time being until they could safely get things closed up. That was pretty cool as I was fairly close to the front so I got to see the cruisers the whole time.

  18. Yes study an unlocked lightbar from a good modeler and thats how you setup your ELS. All the lights you want to flash as extra_1 get attached together. Everything you want to flash as extra_2 gets attached together and so on down the line. 1-4 is the primary, 5,6 are wig-wags/takedowns or whatever you want to use them for. 7-9 is the traffic advisor or other lighting, again depends on how you want to set it up

  19. ....(Can't get pulled over for it but you can be ticketed for it if your pulled over for a different reason)  So you could have them because you won't be pulled over for it....

I don't think thats true. I rode with a sergeant and the main and only reason we pulled him over was for those blue headlights. So that would lead me to believe that you can be pulled over for that and only that (in Wisconsin). The officer knew the drivers prior drug history after running his info which was what lead to the request for the search. The K9 was there just in case he didn't give permission but he did and the search turned up nothing. He was simply let go with a possible warning for the lights but I couldn't hear what he said to him. But the main reason for that stop was the lights and only after he ran his info did he recognize him. I could be wrong though as I haven't looked up the statute on it but I don't think he would have risked a case over an illegal stop.

  20. Its illegal, in almost every state its illegal to have colored head lights. Its cool but its illegal hell I would probably even use it its that cool lol

Yea very illegal. A recent ride along I did someone was driving against us with *slightly* blue tinted headlights and we whipped around and pulled them over. I'm talking just slightly more blueish than HID's. It led to a voluntary vehicle search lol, which turned up nothing.

They would be cool for show cars, parking lot meets, or showing off in your driveway but thats about it.
